Well Angstrom, I mostly agree with that statement ...besides the fact people caught in a perpetual cycle of poverty have very limited choices and therefore need a real hand up!

A hand up is fine. Nobody is opposed to that. It is the continual demand for a hand out that we have a problem with. That and the bazillions of government employees that gobble up so much of the loot.

and from that one time you made up your mind and stopped. What a heartless, ignorant, selfish, a$$hole you are.

I didn't become a a$$hole based on that event alone no, but it was a drop in that direction.

Yes Gov. sure Gobbles up the loot...Knowingly.
A cycle of poverty is a hard cycle to break. Some People need a hand up, and a little guidance to change their direction; set them on a more positive path.

Sometimes all someone needs is good directions. You can sink millions of dollars trying to help someone, but without that much importent direction the money dose nothing.

Success is measured in baby steps at first, and eventually grows into a fast paced sprint.

I did one time offer food to a homeless man, oddly enough,
he refused my help and told me he only accepted money.

It reinforced my understanding that you can't help people that don't want to be helped.

That was many years ago

Maybe the last person who gave him food poisoned him! :)

If the money actually got to the people who it was intended to help, instead of being gobbled up by corrupt/broken bureaucracies ...More people would get the proper directions, and get where they need to go.

That's been part of my philosophy for years. (You ever meet people that you know exactly what they are going to say about any issue from one decade to the next?) Hilarious :)

yep I have. They listen mainly to the same type of music as they did in their youth, wear the same cloths, have the same hair cut, they are creatures of habit and comfort. It's weird.

Oooh, that's scary when you put it that way- makes me think of myself. :)

Maybe I don't know all the implications of food stamps! I assumed they were accepted like cash at the grocery store.

The other implication with food stamps is that those using them at a store are amongst those who don't need them. It's obvious you're using a "hand out". Where as at the food bank, all those around you are in the same sort of boat. The hit to your pride is lessened.

A beaten down person is unable to look up and see a helping hand sometimes. Sometimes if you can help them raise their head in pride even just a little bit , their view is increased and they can see where to go, what to do.

Holy shyte, that is scary. I had hair down to my shoulders, wore silk shirts, bell bottom, tight as all get out pants, and platform shoes. I don't think I need to spell out the music I listened to. lol

Yeah, I guess it can work both ways............I was thinking more of the person who might be self conscious of people on the street (who they might happen to know) see them entering and exiting the food bank. Mind you if I was in a state where I need help I don't think it would bother me.

So you can pretty much guess how much Welfare covers - for those folk who think it's living high off the hog

One of my sons was sick awhile back and his E.I. had run out. Welfare treated him shamefully. Thank goodness it was short lived. I guess if there's kids involved it might not be quite as harsh, but a single person doesn't even get enough money to buy a pair of shoe laces should he need them.

By the sound of things, it's easier to get welfare assistance in the States.

That's Alberta, she was in Ontario, and it was a number of years ago. Do try and keep up.
So what, the moral of the story is if you want to get ahead get the Govt to put you through a school of your choice. Jump through the hoops and you end up being a leader in the community.
Try doing that today.

BTW Something actually important would look like this. In gerrland do you talk to people more the more you dislike them?

In that you are in the west don't you just fuking hate it when ice gets a dusting of fluffy now. It's like somebody threw a bucket of marbles into a skating rink. I officiall fuking hate winter, at least for a few days. That initial step, slide stop was replaced with step, slide, pick up a lot a speed in a short period of time.

It's Ontario, you sure that isn't still news? Rather than hair dresser somebody to process hemp fiber might be more in what kinds of tasks will be important in the coming 20 years instead of what happened in the past 20.

The point is, dumbass, you basically called nug a liar and then quoted present day Alberta legislation, when Nuggler was talking about many years ago in Ontario, to support your stupidity.
