well... there goes the island! One of the great things about vacationing in Cuba was... no yawnkees!
And we're coming... and we tip!

Now the Cubans will want to wait on the table with the Americans because they tip unlike the cheap Canadians.

Expedia 2014 Vacation Spending Index --- International Study Analyzed Vacation Spending Habits Among Residents in Asia, North America, South America, Europe and Australia/New Zealand: "Most vacationers expect to tip the service providers they meet on vacation, though 23% of global travelers indicated that they do not tip at all. The most likely tippers were from Mexico (96% tip service providers on holiday), followed by Austrians (92%) Germans (91%), Canadians, Thai and Indians (all 90%). 86% of Americans tip on holiday. New Zealanders were stingiest; only 42% of New Zealand travelers tip service providers on vacation. Only 50% of Australians do as well."

Where was the defeat?

amongst others... Vietnam, Iraq, Poverty, Drugs, Children Left Behind, Healthcare, Gun Culture, etc.. You're welcome.

They need US investment. They've been begging the US and whining for us to lift the embargo. And they've laid all their woes on the embargo. Obama would have lifted it years ago but the Castro's needed it to keep in power.

Once this embargo is lifted the Americans will flood Cuba like like the stars in the desert. Tourists, Investors...gamblers. You name it. Cold War Cuba will be Gooooooone.

How were you stringing me along? You got thumped on my second post. Clearly you do not know what you're talking about.

Try harder next time.

You are referring to French Canadians.
French Canadians singled out as bad tippers in Vermont | canada.com

Wait until Pauline Marois gets wind of this. Speaking French in Burlington, Vt., could cost you at restaurants.

The practice has apparently stopped since a local Burlington paper, Seven Days, published an account of it recently, but waiters and restaurant managers said in interviews Tuesday that some local restaurants routinely added up to 20 per cent in gratuity to Quebecers’ cheques to counteract their widespread reputation as bad tippers.

“No restaurant here has a policy to do that, mainly because it’s illegal,” said Niall McMahon, a waiter/manager at Burlington’s Asiana Noodle Shop.

“But sometimes servers will do it. It’s at the waiter’s discretion.”

You keep thinking I'm actually responding to you, when in fact I'm just making fun of you. Go on then, fall for it again.

Fall for what?

Wow... you're dumb.

amongst others... Vietnam, Iraq, Poverty, Drugs, Children Left Behind, Healthcare, Gun Culture, etc.. You're welcome.

You're pretty slow as well!

Must explain the poor tipping reputation.

Bay of Pigs. And the U.S. became the only member of the Embargo Cuba club.. with every other developed nation in the world granting full diplomatic and trading and travel relationships.

Much to the annoyance of the U.S. right wing.. who never forgave Cuba from breaking the colonial empire the U.S. endeavoured to establish in the Americas. They still haven't recovered from the slight 25 years after the fall of communism.

Time heals all wounds.

...
Presently Cuba has companies drilling off shore for oil/gas deposits, and the equipment and all that goes with it is inspected by the US.
...

Sounds like a problem from an environmental standpoint doesn't it? Maybe Uncle Sam should treat the Cubans like he treats the Canadians.

You keep thinking I'm actually responding to you, when in fact I'm just making fun of you. Go on then, fall for it again.

Did you get the idea of making fun of your interlocutors from me? :)

Found this interesting comment about Rubio's remarks on Obama's lift of the embargo. Also read other comments regarding exiled Cubans who would rather see the status quo maintained.

"Probably not, this time. Rubio's constituency in Florida is heavily influenced by Cubane Exiles, for whom the Embargo is a matter of faith."

Oops...........forgot to mention they were in an article at Huff Post on a story about Rubio's rant today.

From the Cuban exile standpoint... Obama was given yet another spanking by yet another country. He could have handed Florida back to the GOP in 2016 with this but that is just a possibility.

This prompted me to call my Marine buddy of mine who is a Cuban and leans left. He said it was a foolish move for Obama as he gains nothing nor do the people. The few in power maintain power like the mob and the people of Cuba will see little if any change. On the flip side he said they Cuban Govt. will not be able to blame the embargo for the Cuban peoples poverty.

Another political maneuver of Indolent/Incompetent Emperor JV in vain attempt to make himself relevant and distract attention from his own INCOMPETENCE !

Obama did run on this in 08. Its not a distraction to fulfill one of the things you ran on.

Ok so there wasn't really a defeat you just like to say there was because you want there to be.

The Embargo ends with a Castro still in power which means the Embargo failed. In a way thats a defeat.

Hmmmm, nope... Nope, I'm not buying the 'I was stringing you along in order to cover for my fallacious statements'

Lemme see if Vanna can dig out a nice consolation prize for ya'll.

PS - An all expense paid trip to Cuba is off the table

You're not buying either? I guess you clowns haven't gotten your talking points yet. The pundits haven't been on TV declaring this a surrender to the great communist Satan yet? Man, what's taking them so long?

This must be hard for the clown patrol. I said this was a Cold War defeat for the United States. The normal response should be "Defeat!?! NEVER! USA! USA! USA!" which is what I got. But I think the clowns forgot there's a Democratic president, and the narrative is that he's a weak-kneed socialist Muslim homosexual momjeans surrender monkey. You know you can agree with me for your moronic reasons and still meet your clown quota for the day.

Cubans have a higher standard of living!

Ahhh Beaver!

My youngest and his wife have vacationed there for the last 4 years. His sentiments exactly.

That's right. We're coming... coming like the stars in the night time desert.

As soon as they give the word... within weeks... Cuba will belong to U.S tourists. The Yanks will outnumber the Canadians by the thousands.

Beave: Most Cubans are dirt poor.

But, you're probably right about Americans wanting to leave.

Oh you see what they want you to see. The Cubans will tell you themselves... they're poor... they need the US. Canada and the EU just wasn't cutting it.

No matter. By the thousands... the thousands the Yanks will come. Almost immediately too. There is much to be exploited there. Cuba has been stuck in 1961 and that will change.

That quiet vacation spot... that quiet hotel... that quiet beach... no longer.

We are a short hop by air... and a quick boat ride from Miami..... and We are coming.
