And so, yesterday, following a New York grand jury's failure to indict New York City police officer Daniel Pantaleo for choking 43-year-old Eric Garner to death in July, Governor Andrew Cuomo issued a statement. "[W]hile there will be people who disagree with today's grand jury decision," it read, "it is important that we respect the legal process and rule of law."
He did not explain why.

The law is what binds a community together.
One problem is the situation was escalated, when deescalation is called for.
How many resources were utilized for selling loose cigarettes?
Now after the death, all officers will attend a mandatory 3 day course. More resources, from OT to less policing on the street.
Then we have protests, more resources.
Lawsuits, more resources.
So the dead guy had priors, all minors, SFW -and the Officer was after him for ffn selling loose cigarettes.
Not drugs, not weapons, not B&E, but selling loose cigarettes.
Guess there was no other crimes to investigate on that beat.
I commend the Officer for his fine judgment.
You don't have to respect the laws of the land but you do need to follow simply because you're not any better than anyone else. Break those laws because your almighty self feels entitled to and your sorry azzz needs to be thrown in the jail so's you can develop a romance with the boys.
