Before you blow a gasket on me Colpy...

Would it have been easier to locate the owner of that gun if we still had a registry?

Sorry, I missed this before.

Yep. It was probably stolen....and it is a damn shame we can't charge the victim of a crime with unsafe storage.......you know, because like rape, the victim is guilty if they haven't covered up properly.

Actually, I doubt the rifle was ever registered. Best guess is only between 50% and 70% of long guns in Canada ever were.

As for worrying about the source of this rifle being a supplier to terrorists.....well, I sincerely doubt that. They deal in AKs.

Gee, I guess it doesn't matter who owned the gun afterall.

Clearly the investigation into its wherabouts is a Liberal ruse. 8O

But seriously, we may never know the origins of this gun.

True. It really does not matter who owned it, only who used it to murder an unarmed soldier.

Of course. It was society's fault. This individual bears no blame nor does the religion he turned to.

Also societie's fault he was a crackhead.

That might be because Anders Breivik was not a Christian by any stretch of the imagination. His writings revealed he doubted both the divinity of Christ, and the existence of any god whatsoever.

So he wasn't a total nutbar then.

From what I understand illegal guns are relatively easy to acquire, ammo is a tad more difficult.

In the sense that this was not a plot. Sure.

But it's still pretty plain to see that as an "inspiration" to these types, they need to be stopped.
It just ignores the inspiration, but I agree with the premise altogether.

It would be understandable if it had been a fully automatic firearm, which might mean an organized occurrence....but a lever action firearm, or a car or an axe is more of a lone wolf {pardon the pun) thing....as long as it's not the main focus of the investigation...

Well. . .

With the serial number, Winchester's records should show which gun shop they sent it to. Then the gun shop may have records showing whom they sold it to. It's far from a certainty, but that's how the investigation game goes.

Whats important about them knowing this? Just that he obtainex it legally and some how passes their screening? I know i must sound dense here. I just can't understand why they need to know. Hes dead. He's not a mystery.

It could lead to someone who helped him plan this, or some other facts important to the investigation.

it does show the level of fear we feel, that we do feel threatened by the extremists. This is a good reminder to think critically before reacting. It was a very scary day.

It could lead to someone who helped him plan this, or some other facts important to the investigation.

Ah ok. That makes sense. So theres still the potential for some serious unknowns.

You know after listening to Harper, Justin Trudeau, and Muclair..

Justin Trudeau, and Muclair sincerely tried to calm people down, unify the country and stress things should not change.

Sadly, Prime Minister Harper, just set out his agenda, and ramping up the temperature of the population.. not much unifying or calming in his speech.. it was very disappointing for me. :(
