Car companies should come up with system where by no cell phone works inside the vehicle while the vehicle's drive is engaged. There could be a hands free docking station which would/could override it.

They could give reduced insurance rates to drivers willing to have such firmware installed in their vehicle.

Drivers who talk on their cell phones while driving and are not using hands free are extraordinarily selfish. There are absolutely no conversations that important.

What about eating...drinking coffee, etc.?

If the studies support a ban, I'm fine with it. Clearly, if people would just be more considerate and not succumb to instant gratification we might all be a bit safer on the road. People would have more money in their pocket too. Kind of a nice side effect really...

I think cell phones in the car are great.

Now every time I blow by a police speed trap they more often than not have their head down texting/using data or on phone.

Banning swimming would help as well.

Fatty foods ban, alcohol ban... those would make us all safe too.

I doubt if there is any kind of idiocy that doesn't happen while people are driving. One of the worst I've seen (twice) is people driving with a dog in their lap!!

Clearly a ban on swimming while driving should be instituted! Sheesh, it almost goes without saying.

You know, you don't have to institute a ban on all things, just cause its' been instituted on some things...

I was being sarcastic when posting those. :)

People will ban things just to do so... just because they can. I am not so into that. I'm not so into supporting that.

Sorry, my sarcasm radar was turned off due to low levels of caffeine in the blood stream. Working on resolving that issue now.

My fault... I should have used purple font. ;)

When my kid went to Middle School they sent home letters to the parents asking all of us who had boys to kindly ask our sons to go easy on everything AXE. They said the hallways and locker rooms reek of it.

Great advertising on AXE's part though. Commercials of women ripping of men's clothes spoke strongly to boys hitting puberty I guess.

My transport driving son, while coming up I 81, was passed by a guy in a car, driving while...........READING A BOOK !.............(bout 10 years ago)

Later saw the guys car imbedded in a rock cut or overpass.........forget which.........

Really belongs in the Darwin thread.......

Really think drivers should concentrate on driving. Life's hard enough.

Concentrate on driving...No doubt.

I've seen drivers on the Expressway with the paper open.

A few years back after an unusual fatality... when the body was removed an open magazine was pinned between the woman and the steering wheel. Such a shame.
