I have been working outside the Province for three years. I tried to come back and work there prior to Christmas and it was unsustainable. I can't pay a mortgage on part time employment. Out here I can make over 10 grand a month and plan for my retirement without worrying about have an additional 1200 a year going to the Ontario Cat Food Pension. No HST here either. Only 5% GST. We'll be selling the house in the summer and heading West for good.
oh wow, that so sucks... sorry to hear you have to up-root and reboot...that is so sad that our province has reached this kind of level... I know I have thought about it, not super seriously yet but it's a consideration for sure.

I'm kind of stuck here. Other jurisdictions that pay better don't exactly welcome disabled folk and trucking companies don't generally hire white-haired drivers with heart issues and buggered-up shoulders

yeah i hear you, which is why I am wondering about exiting before old age really kicks in...got about 9 years to go before retiring and I could probably make much better money out west...but relocating would be a bugger...

If anything was proven in this election it is that Ontario does not tolerate the mean spirited.
Hudak focused on a mean spirited campaign. His 100 thousand job cuts, his focus on Dalton's government was his main stay.

Some how your friendly local neighborhood Conservative spin doctor thinks that focus on the mean spirited is a sure way to get a shyte load of votes.

It's interesting if one looks at this perspective from it's social desirability bias. These people do not pull attack ads and strategy out of a hat. They spend millions , yes millions over years of study to see what is their best shot at their voting block.
In this case the Conservative party of Canada knows their main focus base are the mean spirited.

One of the ways is by drawing from their local vernacular speech. Then they are able to create a venue from which it is easy in accessing data for their research.

All political sides do this and it's disheartening that the Conservatives draw from the mainly mean spirited.

Your Count enlightening you

Funny how conservatives are more tolerant, more polite, and give more to charity, considering how "mean-spirited" they are, isn't it??

To me, politics is a cruel joke played upon the masses to make them think they live in a free and democratic society. But after 5 or 6 years on this forum, I have come to the conclusion that the deluded conservatives on here are far more mean spirited than the deluded liberals.

Pray tell, Cliffy; why it took you 5 or 6 years.? 8O

honestly, if I was a crier I would...it is just so pathetic... I am mad because it scares me to death...we just gave a majority to a bunch of losers who wasted over a billion dollars...
waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah

I am disgusted,

scares the poop out of me

Yep, me too, but what was the alternative ?

Hudak ..............we lose everything
NDP...............already forgot her name.......we really lose everything.
Wynn.............we lost.

But, she and I did vote. Never told one another what we voted for. Never will. It's a rule which has kept us together for 49 years.
"hint" she likes union
"hint" so do I

That is an extremely vague unaccountable retreat into bias propaganda.

The purpose of the thread is to prove that Conservative spin doctors reached into their bag of tricks and came up with negative ads and killing jobs in order to appeal to certain focus group.

Read and weep;

Thomas Sowell captured this overall sentiment in a Nov. 2006 Human Events piece when he wrote, “One of the most pervasive political visions of our time is the vision of liberals as compassionate and conservatives as less caring.” While myths surrounding leftist giving and volunteerism continue to be perpetuated, American researchers have taken a pretty clear and concise look at this issue and the case is closed: Conservatives out-give and out-volunteer the opposition. Don’t believe me? Examine the facts.
In 2006, independently-registered researcher and author Arthur Brooks tackled the issue of political ideology as it pertains to giving. According to a 2006 ABC News piece by John Stossel and Kristina Kendall, Brooks’ research has shown that conservatives donate about 30 percent more than do liberals. Interestingly, on average, conservatives earn less than liberals.
Brooks also claims that financial donations aren’t the only difference at hand. When it comes to an issue as random as blood donations, conservatives are about 17 percent more likely than their liberal counterparts to donate blood! But, that’s not all. In 2008, George Will covered some of Brooks’ other findings. As it turns out, in 2004, George W. Bush carried 24 out of 25 of the states in which charitable giving exceeded the national average.

It’s a well-known fact that liberals are more tolerant than conservatives or moderates. Superior liberal tolerance is such a fact that they will scream at you if you dare to disagree or debate them, demand that your advertisers bail on you, and pressure the FCC to get you banned from the airwaves. Does that sound like tolerance to you? A new survey from Pew confirms that liberals are the least tolerant of differing opinions, at least on line

Daily Caller if a right wing conservative rag. Slightly biased, what?
Exactly!
And why pray tell is my observation not really challenged.
The obvious spin and focus group targeted.

Now I am sure Colpy would love to have me claiming if you are a conservative you are mean spirited, but that is not what is stated here.
Although Colpy does come off a tad bit cranky to out and out hostile.
I'm a noob here so maybe I have him all wrong.
I bet he is really all warm and fuzzy and just misjudged
