The Catholic Church is the reason for the Dark Ages he says. Try the Fall of the Roman Empire.

Pick up a book sometime.
Ha mr Wiki here asks for The Count to pick up a book.
Well it does coincide with the fall of the Roman empire , from a perspective of enlightenment and science as Christianity became the religion of the day it's narrow view became the accepted philosophy and any mention or study of the physical universe could get you killed.
Thomas Aquinas and John Chrysostom were the role models and science which was alive and well in the Arab world was dead in Europe. Hence my reference to the Dark Ages, which is a pretty loose term in reality. There was plenty of growth but it was religious based.

You need to keep up with the thread and not just look for some excuse to vent your sore rear end from my constant putting you on the right track.

thats twice today eagleschmuck.

You need to take Eagles advice. Then again, maybe not. You're ignorance masquerading as intelligence is highly amusing.

Ahh back to this guy , the gerryh.
First up your post though directed at me has nothing to do with anything I am discussing about now or before.

In the case of the two links you gave, and the inuendo towards my person lil gerryh.

I said somewhere here where my Catholic nun science teacher also taught religion.
She taught us evolution. I to this day love the woman, she was brilliant.

I'm not going to reiterate anything to you gerryh for you are just some internet unhappy person looking for others to back up your anger with.
Eagleschmuck thinks, and i use the term loosely , it smart to tell me about the roman empire when that aspect had nothing to do my point about the origins of the Catholic church and their war on science during the Dark Ages, and the middle ages and during the Renaissance even ....bah...your brain washed...
why bother Count, this one is a burnt seed.

gerryh forgive me if i never reply to your non thought about postings which are nothing more than chances to vent your frustrated life.

bye bye.

Wiki?

You think that this info is from Wiki? You're more of an idiot than I thought!

Did you ACTUALLY go to Wiki to fact check? Please tell me you didn't...please.

Yes, twice today you were made to look like a moron and I didn't have to even give you a reddie.

Read a book. Do some research beyond Wiki for crying out loud.

It was it's total lack of " info" that had me believe it was a google piece.

So it's just what you are then.
oki dokie.

Perhaps you should look beyond Wiki before you stick your foot in it... and read a book or do some real research on the Dark Ages and the causes of it.

(are you going to give me another reddie?)

Your positive and negative assertions, Dex:
1) your paradigm (science) works (relieves human misery and suffering on an unmatched scale and with unrivaled speed)
2) my paradigm (unnamed) does not (work)

Please support both of your assertions with data. (There should be sufficient evidence to warrant the matchless "scope" and "scale" qualifiers in your positive assertion : )
Yeah, I'd have bet big money that's exactly the way you'd take it. If you can't see the truth of the first statement you'd have to be both massively ignorant and stupid, and you're not, the evidence that it works is all around you and you know it, so you're just playing rhetorical games. I won't play. The second statement is not what I said. If you look carefully at how I constructed my sentences you'll see that I said the religious paradigm, to give it a name, does not *demonstrably* work. In other words, you can't prove your claims about it. And you *know* that's true.

The Catholic Church cooked up the Ilopango event as a false flag which was climate change used as a weapon of mass destruction against the Jews and other godless heathens during the Crusades and nobody used livestock for sacrifice ever since due to the value of proteins during the climatic downheaveal through to the Medieval.

Amen

No games, Dex. Hypotheses statements must be be worded precisely and objectively and be measurable in order to stand up to scientific scrutiny. I am not obligated to prove anything here as we are dissecting your assertions concerning paradigms and contributions to human quality of life.

Too funny. I wanted to learn about a 1500 year old book, so I googled an internet that is less than 100 years old.

There I gave you a greeny, feel better . I pictured a booger but don't fret it.
The problem with getting stuck in conversations with you and the gerryh here is simple.
You do not want to discuss, you want to argue and lash out.

This phenomenon has taken me by surprise as this forum experience is very new to me.

We are discussing the Bible , it's falsehoods , it's power over the masses , it's bribery of the human spirit.

The Dark ages , which anyone knows is a misnomer,is just a term to describe a time in history.

You latched unto the Roman Empire like it was some ultimate take down .

It wasn't at all the point I was trying to make about the influence this book and religion had on a people.

But it was the beginning of the scourge the church had towards science and anything that encroached on it's hold over the masses it now controlled .

Ok go for it, let me know I'm a few hundred years off here and there. HA!

That does not take away the fact of your desperation to hold unto The Greatest Con Ever Told.

Been watching House of Cards. There is a scene where Underwood adresses a church and uses it for his politics.

Amazing piece of television.

It's amazing how you eagleschmuck always when cornered avoid the topic and go straight to the name calling and add a touch of unrelated tripe. I watch you do this with so many members. You are not even clever at this ruse.

Good day kid, you shame the avatar you choose to wear.

Any backing of this Catholic Church in this day and age is throw back to medieval times. Wait one secound , they are the cause to the Dark Ages.

But it was the beginning of the scourge the church had towards science and anything that encroached on it's hold over the masses it now controlled .

There, twice you made the erroneous claim. I supplied you with links which YOU stated had nothing to do with what you were talking about. Now, go back to those links and have your care giver read them to you. Get some education before applying fingers to keyboard.

Actually, the OP is about a, supposed, 1500 year old Bible. One, it turns out, is a fake.

I do not know why but here goes.
Your links are a stretch and painting a picture of the Catholic Church as a bastion of free thinkers.
I once again am not denying that there are Catholics who live for science.
Everyone had to be a Catholic in the Dark Ages and middle Ages or be killed.

Whats next geryyh the Catholic church invented science.

good point and that is why we are now discussing the nuances of the believers.
lol

here we go with that ole gerryh

Looking in the mirror again I see.
and again.

Oki dokie,

Uh. . . Count? It kinda did. In the pre-scientific, pre-Galileo days, many, probably most, of the observational "scientists" were priests. Not surprising, most of the literate were priests.

Not taking anything away from the horrors the Catholic church (and other churches) inflicted on billions of people, mind. But for accuracy's sake, the Catholic church did contribute a lot to science. The fact that it also suppressed and even killed some great scientists just proves no organisation is consistent.

What are you doing? None of that can be right. The "count" has everything all figured out. He doesn't learn, he only teaches. Haven't you figured that out yet?
