I can believe that if he lived outside the cities....we had one room school houses in northern Ontario until the 50's and it wasn't unheard of for the older kids to bring their .22's for bird hunting after school during the season...

I doubt he was serious , I think it had to do more with political incorrectness then the actual laughing part
yeah, nuggs, consider the thread title. what we did as kids we generally get a pass for, as we didn't know any better. when we recognize our mistakes we deserve forgiveness. kids are cruel as a rule. who here didn't laugh at or make fun of someone that didn't deserve it, when they were a kid? I think t-bones response was more to the reality that polio has by and large been wiped out and no kids now will ever have the arrogant luxury to be able to laugh at someone so afflicted.

we tortured some kids, I did a bit... I knew it was wrong even when I did it, and I felt bad even when I did it. If I have one solid regret it is that. I knew if my mum would have found out she would have killed me... I feel bad as an adult looking back... our thing was "you have tommy browns cooties" awful. Done in a sing song voice by the tough kids. I wasn't much of a fighter so when they gave me the look, out it came. I remember over 50 years later the names we used. It has haunted me over the years.
