Just out of curiosity, why do you think Martin was a "suspicious character?"

Let's see....booted out of school numerous times, where he was caught with drugs, burglary tools, and women's jewelry, a taste for drugs, guns, and brawling, at his Dad's because his Mom couldn't handle him anymore, 5'11" and ripped, tattooed and grilled at age 17......... a "no limit nigga" by his own choice of name.

Hell, NO....nothing suspicious about THAT character!!

None of which Zimmerman could know.

Absolutely true....

But it points to the fact Zimmerman was RIGHT about him.

You should read Macolm Gladwell's book Blink....it is fascinating. All about how instinctively we judge situations things and characters in a millisecond....and yes, sometimes make mistakes. But the vast majority of times we are dead on.

As Zimmerman was.......

He didn't ask if Zimmerman should have thought him suspicious, he asked if Martin WAS a suspicious character.

Zimmerman knew all that from seeing him walking home? Wow.

I expected more from you, Colpy. I thought you would post that internet picture of the rapper that the right-wing liars claim is Martin.

Man, it's like you just don't care any more.

Actually, I asked CanSoldier what makes him think Martin was a suspicious character.

As you well know from following this thread and of course, you know, the case has been in all the papers as they say...RCS was paraphrasing the narrative of the case as described by many before him. Using general terms used by the original actors and in the testimony.

And...*cough*...it's very possible that you missed that...*cough*...and thought you caught him judging Zimmerman on his own. Maybe you saw a chance to pounce and call him out.

That might be, well, a little embarrassing for you so mayyybe you thought you might do a quick two-step and try to justify why you said what you did.

Whaddya figure? Sound reasonable bud?

Of course, I could be wrong.

You are. I have enormous respect for CanSoldier. I think his opinion on the Zimmerman case, and anything else he cares to comment on, has a very high chance of being intelligent, reasonable, and fair. That's why I'm interested.

I don't expect to agree with him on everything, but the simple fact he disagrees with me on anything is enough to make me reconsider my position.

Not that he and I disagree on the Zimmerman case, mind.

Yeah we are not going to see eye to eye on this. Everyone is suspicious in someone's eyes.

Zimmerman explained exactly what it was about Trayvon's behaviour that made him appear suspicious....and it wasn't because "he looks Black" as NBC would have had you believe.

What Colpy said is absolutely right.....it's instinct...Two years ago in August, walking through our local city park after dark my wife and I noticed four or five teens....the only way I can describe is acting strange, avoiding eye contact and turning sideways so we wouldn't see their faces....
I told my wife, "They have done something, or they are planning something"
The very next morning going through that same park, the other way, we saw the cops there, decorations and flower pots an other stuff had been overturned and broke, a park bench had been thrown in the bay etc.
And no..they were not Blacks or Hispanic or Natives....just white little bums!

I don't give the explanations of a person trying to dodge a long stay in the Greybar Hotel a heck of a lot of credence.

The psychotics on here still figger he's innocent due to the lack of evidence to convict.

Next time some savage gets off on a mistrial, it 100% means they didn't do it and are innocent.

It's irrelevant as to whether Martin was acting suspiciously or not. It is only a minor point in this issue. The entire issue could have been avoided if Zimmerman had done what he was supposed to do. He didn't so guilty or not by law, he is responsible for an unnecessary death. So Colpy and Gang can nitpick about whatever detail you want, you won't change that fact.

Same sort of "psychotics" get someone convicted who actually IS innocent of the charges.

Obama did not help, not does he continue to help. This whole shxt storm was turned in a race thing.
That sells.
Nothing has been done or will be done to prevent these happening in the future.
According to the Judgment he is innocent. According to should he have waited, or had a partner he played a major part in Martins death. Zimmerman from the evidence was attacked by Martin. So Martin also played his part. Sad thing is he is dead.
And Zimmerman, I give him 5 years max before someone offs him.
Dollars to Doughnuts no company will sell him a large life insurance policy.

Nope and barry should quit stirring up the masses with his melodrama and maudlin emotions.

The half-baked media preachers, orators and such should tell their followers to take a deep breath, show them 'how to be' instead of instigating. Even the NHL has 2 minutes for that sh!t.

No. The whole thing didn't 'turn into' a race thing. The inescapable truth, that one would have to lie to themselves to try to avoid, is that black youths face profiling to a much larger degree than white youth do. That they look 'suspicious' to strangers more often than white youth do. So when people are saying 'he was justified to find him suspicious', you can't separate his skin colour from the issue entirely. Was he shot 'because he was black'? No. But pretty much everyone knows darn well he was singled out initially because of it. Race isn't a non-issue.
