Eagle's posts, and Wiki's articles on affirmative action, seem to imply that while there isn't a 'quota', that plenty of affirmative action takes place to increase employment for minorities, women, and the disenfranchised.
There is plenty of outreach, some of it permitted, some of it required.

There is not a quota system or hiring preferences. Both of those have been held by the Supreme Court to be illegal, with the exceptions I noted above.

The usual blather of anti-affirmative action people is always about quotas and preferences. They are utterly convinced that unqualified non-whites and women are taking the jobs that "belong" to white men. They never quit blathering about "quotas" and "preferences." You will note EagleSmack talked about "extra points" in Post # 460. Yet, when challenged, he can only quote some soft language about outreach, and cannot present evidence of quotas or preferences, where I have cited to the preferences for Indians and veterans in the Federal hiring program.

So, is there outreach? Yes, certainly. Is there an attempt to increase awareness and promote racial, sex, and disability diversity in employment? Yes there is.

Are there quotas? No. Are there racial/sex hiring preferences? No.

Are white men the victims of invidious discrimination in employment. The unemployment numbers would suggest they are not.

Odd that you made yourself a target of my post since it was directed yet again at the maddening media crowds and some of their more ardent regurgitation cheerleaders. If you're one, nothing I can do about that. I don't keep score.

George looks like a dolt and a coward. Most everyone knows that. Facts were presented, lottsa legal mumbo jumbo then a jury said not guilty.

I think that if anyone thinks he feels like a big man about what went down that night, they're as dumb as a sack of hammers. He's likely relieved he lived and that justice was on his side during the ridiculous show trial. Otherwise, his life and that of his family is in turmoil in part because of the cheerleaders.

The continual speculation does nothing but aggravate the never-to-be-satisfied masses.
no, not odd, you poke continually at the liberals and left... since I lean left socially at least, I would definitely be in your target crowd ... that is the problem when generalizing with posts. Did I say something which made you think you needed to do something about it? If so that was not my intent.

You are right, George is a dolt and a coward. He was bested by a 17 year old kid because he is fat, and out of shape and the kid kicked his *** and he couldn't man up.

I don't believe justice was on his side, rather justice just wasn't on the kid's side or both of them would still be alive. If he has a conscience, his life will always be in turmoil. One can not take the life of another and be okay. It doesn't work that way, even when you are right in taking the life, if there is any humanity in the individual one would always ruminate on what the kid would be doing 'today'.

The problem for his future will be those who will persecute him and malign him and berate him, not because they are right but because they have their own agendas and unresolved baggage and he will be their targeted victim. That will just be a small part of the bad karma he has pulled his way. It was a choice, payback is a bitch.

Nope and I never intended for you to feel slighted Sal.

There was a roll of ifs, armchair anthropology, batman, wannabe lawyers, casino job openings, gov't quotas, and how many languages do we speak. None of it to do with GZ being (and still is) found not guilty against almost insurmountable politico-media pressure to find otherwise. Not talking off-topic and derailing now...talking the stretching, the squinting, the wanting to convince attitude that Zim should be serving his 30 years. And maybe have his dog killed if he had one.

The e-braindead attention whoars and social media darlings were very busy all the while too and had their actions and headlines made note of. Oh and not to mention they are gagging for him to be labelled a white trash Klan type kinda guy.

The sheep and the herders.

So much deflection. Frustration. Foaming at the mouth.

What if...what if...what if. The speculation is about as exciting as a dry fart.

Buddy was found not guilty of second-degree murder. He's a free man.

Some people have a problem with that. Some lunatics have a real problem with that.

I hope his family remains safe and can resume their lives. Same for George (whatever limited path he might have been on anyway).

I have a real bad feeling about his future.

yes the jury did him no favour, he would have been better to do prison time, like I said about OJ, people forgive, and those with an agenda will not let go of this

and what they won't understand, is that will be equally as wrong if not more, than what he did

There's lots of wrongs that happened throughout this episode... Zimmerman could have done (or not done) a number of things that would have resulted in Martin being alive today, but that said, Martin ultimately took the last step in engaging a direct confrontation... He too could have avoided this and he'd be around

No winners here, just a big lose-lose situation

Adult mistakes and child mistakes do not hold equal weight, nor do mistakes with fists versus mistakes with guns.

Lets review shall we?

State agencies. By executive order, signed by Governor Deval Patrick, all state agencies must develop and implement affirmative action and diversity plans to identify and eliminate discriminatory barriers in the workplace; remedy the effects of past discriminatory practices; identify, recruit, hire, develop, promote, and retain employees who are members of underrepresented groups; and ensure diversity and equal opportunity in all facets, terms, and conditions of state employment. The plans must include specific goals and timetables for achievement, comply with all applicable state and federal laws, and be updated at least every 2 years. The ...
