I am a Down Homer where people say good morning to people they do not know.
But civilized is or can be all encompassing and can differ wildly between cultures.
Basically respect for others- you do not have to talk to them, like them, ignore them if you wish but they are to be afforded the same rights and protections of you have.
Just do not treat them as an enemy for what others have done. They did not do anything.
And old saying comes to mind – Visiting the sins of the Father on the Son. Not right.
Exactly.

Down Homer? lol Is that a PC thing? I'm just a hick.;)

Tamerlan, who was killed in a shootout earlier today, appears to have been sympathetic to Islamist radicalism. Five months ago, he appears to have created a channel on YouTube called Terrorists. The channel features videos from the one of the leaders of the insurgency in Dagestan, who goes by the name Amir Abu Dudzhan. YouTube appears to have removed two of the videos but in a third features Dudzhan calling for jihad. Holding a Kalashnikov rifle, he says, “Jihad is the duty of every able-bodied Muslim.” Among the other videos on his channel is one of Timur Mutsuraev, the bard of the Chechen resistance in the 1990s; it features his song “We Will Devote Our Lives to Jihad.”

The younger brother, Dzhokhar, attended school from 1999 to 2001 in the Russian republic of Dagestan, a war-torn part of Russia next to Chechnya, according to his page on the Russian social-networking site Vkontakte. But even though Dzhokhar’s page indicates an interest in conflicts and causes that have at times been connected to terrorism, no solid evidence has emerged to suggest that he is motivated by religious or nationalist causes.

So why attack in the US? They should be targeting the Moscow Marathon or Russian Embassy for this to make sense

Just found this. More information will come out over the coming weeks.
The Brothers Tsarnaev: Clues to the Motives of the Alleged Boston Bombers | TIME.com
Ah, clues. Clues help. Clues are much better than presuppositions and guesses from newsmedia, et al seeking sensationalism. They do tend to leap to conclusions and then seek and sometimes contort evidence to support their conclusions. I like untainted clues.
I'd hardly think a 19 year old and his younger brother had much of a clue about the deep issues and such of religions.

I hear you Goober. When I meet a stranger on the street who smiles and says "good morning", it sort of gives off an aura that lasts for awhile, and it takes absolutely no real effort. -:)

Just here. Even if Tsarneaev and Dzhokhar are Muslim, what makes people think it had anything to do with Islam?

Well they are and that is what we are going to find out.

Ahhh... you really haven't been following. The younger brother is 19... the older (now dead) brother was 26.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev’s uncle calls his nephews, Boston Marathon bombings suspects, ‘losers’ | World | News | National Post
The uncle of the two suspects in the twin bombing of the Boston Marathon, one of whom is dead and the other on the run, has condemned the alleged actions of his nephews.

“Of course we’re ashamed. They are the children of my brother,” Ruslan Tsarni told reporters in Montgomery Village, Md. “[We share] grief with the real victims here, those who have been murdered. Those who have been injured.”

Tsarni said he has not seen his brother or his nephews, who are ethnic Chechens, in many years. When asked what could have motivated the alleged crime, he angrily called the two men “losers” who couldn’t successfully “settle themselves” in the U.S.

But the uncle said any religious justification for what they did was “fake.” They had no military training, he added.

When asked if the men were part of a radical group, Tsarni said: “If that happened, most likely somebody radicalized them, but it’s not my brother, who just moved back to Russia, who spent his life bringing bread back to their table, fixing cars.”

"Homer"- the way I've interpreted that term maybe rightly maybe not is a denigrating term used by the ignorant.
Only if you watch a lot of The Simpsons. "Hick" is usually a demeaning term, too, but I don't care.

Well they are and that is what we are going to find out.

I just misread what was said in the National link I posted.

But anyway, I still think the newsmedia has people leaping to conclusions before discovering much for evidence. Typical. Sometimes, as it appears to be in this instance, they get things right anyway.

Uh oh...

THREAD SPAZZING!

Mod ALERT!

The father said they were set up by the FBI and Police. The aunt was hinting at it as well
It's a possibility.
Need more facts.

It's the fault of the imbeciles who want it both ways. As long as we treat nations that spawn this sort of crap as culturally misunderstood, we will continue to fall victim to them. I watched a pretty fascinating story about a gay man who was imprisoned in Saudi Arabia after he was picked up by the Ministry of Divinity. Here at home we have the stones to tell Catholic Schools to be tolerant, but its hands off when it comes to Islam.

This is the second stupidest post I've ever seen at CC. You and your family and friends are being raped by bankers while you blather on about a staged event featuring patsies and practice martial law. Of course you felt it necessary to press the obligatory "poor gay" and evil Islam bit in most likely trying to make quota. Saudi Arabia is a fine upstanding ally of the west with fully paid up dues. They have our permission to stone murder sell steal as many innocent people as they like. Stones in your head Soldier.
