It's the fault of the imbeciles who want it both ways. As long as we treat nations that spawn this sort of crap as culturally misunderstood, we will continue to fall victim to them. I watched a pretty fascinating story about a gay man who was imprisoned in Saudi Arabia after he was picked up by the Ministry of Divinity. Here at home we have the stones to tell Catholic Schools to be tolerant, but its hands off when it comes to Islam.
Woulda been nice if you'd told them that before they raped and tortured the children, but hey, better late than never, enit?

So, if no one was killed, it's all OK?

It's the fault of the drooling imbeciles. But hate rhetoric does play a role.

Did I say that - No - Did I infer or imply that - No- And 1 man was killed.
What I have stated on previous occasions was that if such an event occurred in some countries murders would run into the thousands or tens of thousands.
It reflected well upon US society as a group that the violence was minimal. None would be better. But the world ain’t and people never will be perfect.

Imbecile was your word. Do you have any idea how idiotic your response sounds.

What does the molestation of kids by pedophile priest have to this? Deflection?

After 911 none- no attacks on Muslims resulting in death- 1 man, a Sikh was mistaken by a Bubba type as a Muslim and murdered.
As to other types of attacks I cannot recall.
There were cases of language used that was by and from haters and morons. But every culture and religion has them.
Are you sure about that? This says something different:

And that would be who's fault.....The terrorists? .... or ours? .....Pick one
Why pick just one? Of course, the original violence is wrong, but that does not make violence used in vengeance right either. 2 wrongs don't make a right.

White folks have to walk a fine line when protecting culture. The White guilt crap stymies unity and cultural preservation.

At work so I went thru it quickly- 3 murders but no locations,I was only aware of 1 - but no dates etc. State hate crimes increased by 1600 % -so would have to see the numbers prior to 911- hate speech went up.
Will try to read it over the weekend as I work on Sat this week.

I'm sure if I dug further into it, I would find more, but the point is that some Americans (as well as other populations in other countries) as a group kind of like the idea of revenge and are not terribly choosy as to who they get revenge on. Humans are like that.

FoxNews has all but blamed Muslim Terrorists... and a new Patriot Act is coming up for a vote in the Senate. More scare tactics to push through legislation.

I don't recall hearing that at all. I do recall many other outlets thinking that this was right wing terrorists... tea party types.

But so far... looks like FOX was right.

I like to think Canadians are more tolerant of different cultures...

I know you like to think that.

True- But there are major differences between how some countries peoples react. I am not making excuses for what occurred after 911. With a population of around 300 million at the time society by and large did well.
I was stating that overall the majority of US people reacted in a civilized way, not all but it appears that large ( percentage unknown) majority.

Nope, just pointing out that there's damn good reason to tell the Catholic schools they need to be tolerant (and law-abiding). They've provided ample evidence that, without careful monitoring, they're full of monsters.

Not sure if Tsarneaev and Dzhokhar are Muslim or not. I kind of doubt it.

I tend to agree but that itself depends upon what you mean by "civilised".

Do you think there won't be an uptick in violence against Muslims and people mistaken for Muslims (like Hindus and Sikhs) by the drooling imbeciles who would hold all Muslims (i.e., brown folk that talk funny) responsible for the actions of Muslim terrorists?

There's an old saying..........."It just takes one rotten apple to spoil the barrel".

Ahhhh... you kind of doubt it LG? Just curious if you've been watching the news at all. I don't mean that as a knock at all... but have you been following this at all?

I am a Down Homer where people say good morning to people they do not know.
But civilized is or can be all encompassing and can differ wildly between cultures.
Basically respect for others- you do not have to talk to them, like them, ignore them if you wish but they are to be afforded the same rights and protections of you have.
Just do not treat them as an enemy for what others have done. They did not do anything.
And old saying comes to mind – Visiting the sins of the Father on the Son. Not right.

Let the law sort it all out.

It's fun speculating in the proctological kinda way by stirring up sh*t and seeing what comes down the pipe.

I'm not sure which hurts more from laughing.

My left side or right side.
