They certainly do! Heck, look at Vietnam. We lost less than 60,000 people in twelve years, less than died in the same period in traffic accidents. And businesses made trillions coming up with newer, better, flashier ways to blow stuff up.

Could be. China tends not to be land acquisitive outside of their own notion of "greater China" though. Is the Korean Peninsula part of "greater China?"

You are going by past history prior to Mao- Look at Tibet- At the 3 wars fought with India over territory.

All while getting your a$$es kicked by a bunch of 5' tall guys wearing pajamas....

The War militarily was won after the failed and successful Tet offensive. The NVK were destroyed but the war was won in the living rooms of the US.
The US public was fed up with the war.

NK does not have the money or supplies to start even a backyard BBQ. All the sabre rattling is just to take the local's minds off the disaster the dictatorship has made of their economy. Certain amount of ***** envy as well since SK is doing quite well.

On behalf of?

And who is going to supply the diesel, JP, bunker and gasoline necessary to wage war?

And the food?

Hey, South Korea. We're planing to attack you. Would you mind providing us with some food for the war first? If you don't, we'll attack you for the food. And you don't want to mess with us; you know how vicious a starving animal can be.

Not at all. It's all just a puppet show co-produced by Moscow and Beijing to scare 'Mericans just because they can.

Actually, even Beijing, North Korea's only ally, is getting sick of its antics. One would think that if the North Korean leadership were smart, they'd recognize that with China being its one and only ally, it might be a good idea to not be a pain in China's back side all the time or else it might find itself with no allies felt.

Somewhat correct. The US public didn't have the stomach for expanding the war in Laos & Cambodia and escalating to the tactics used by the NVA or Viet-Cong. Although the public mostly didn't like the tactics already in use by the Americans such as carpet-bombing with napalm.

The US probably could have won if they were allowed carte-blanche as to the how and where the fight would happen but they chose to adhere to public pressure and the Geneva Conventions. Something they haven't done in Afghanistan or Iraq....not that it has helped, they are still being defeated by largely untrained forces who have more heart & will to defend their country than the US has to take it by force.

China isn't an ally. Moscow keeps them both on a short leash.

China is officially an ally of North Korea, though unofficially it really gets a long better with South Korea and just finds North Korea to be a big pain in the...

Moscow certainly does not have China on a leash. They have similar interests, but neither controls the other as such, inasmuch as they may influence one another somewhat.

With 9,495,000 active, reserve, and paramilitary personnel the Korean People's Army (KPA) of North Korea is the largest military organisation on Earth.

To put that into perspective, the entire US military has 1,429,995 active personnel and 850,880 reserve personnel.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Us_military#cite_note-Reserve_Forces-3

Baloney

IN recent months five uninhabited islands east of Taiwan and southwest of Japan have become a new global flashpoint. The Chinese now claim these islands - called the Diaoyu in China, the Diaoyutai in Taiwan and the Senkaku in Japan - and have repeatedly threatened Japanese control with military overflights and naval activity, including the provocative locking of weapons control radar on to a Japanese ship.

These East China Sea activities follow increased Chinese actions and threats in the South China Sea. China argues such coercion is appropriate since all such locations belong to China, but history shows these Chinese territorial claims lack substance.

How well can those 9½ million troops get around? Problem is, technology hasn't proven all that successful in sticks-and-stones battles, either....

Someone's got to give this North Korean kid, a bottle of whiskey and a hooker.
He'll forget all about going to war.

He's having a temper tantrum and he believes he deserves respect. Look at me, look at me, look at me

Do the N.Koreans have 9,495,000 rifles for all those soldiers or do they fight in shifts?
