I know we are speaking about a ludicrous idea but it has merit only because sports and the quest to win at all costs has become so ludicrous.

True enough. Maybe it could serve as an example to others once enough athletes drop on the field with heart attacks, or when the women carry full beards, or when limbs start getting amputated for clots and such. using drugs might not be fashionable anymore.

I remember a teacher years ago who told me how his father made him quit smoking. He made him smoke the whol pack at once, cigarette after cigarette till he turned green and he never touched a cigarette again. I don't think I'd recomend this tactic, but apparently it worked for him.

He got them all taken away from him, he's disgraced, and because he also defamed others who were telling the truth by clling them lyers, we'll see if that becomes any kind of court case for him. defamation has laws against it.

What more punishment do you want?

He got all his medals taken away from him.

So if I go and rob a bank and get caught my only punishment will be having to return the loot and feel a little shamed at the reputation I acquired? Nah, don't work that way in real life Machjo! What punishment? 600 hours of doing shopping for lame and deaf old ladies!

I'd say it really took ball for him to admit to it.
And a clever lawyer.

And to top it off, he just graduated from being an A$$hole to be a bonafide A$$hole!

Prior to testing how many athletes used enhancing substances? Are they still Champions?

Prior to testing it was a moot subject! Speaking for myself only if I had deliberately cheated there is no way I would be a champion- if you don't feel that way about yourself, the fame means nothing!

Drugs or no drugs he still proved the potential of what a human can do.

While being an A$$hole! -:) Maybe this guy thinks he deserves special treatment in all aspects of life.

A big White Owl cigar works wonders for that.

The reason he is being critisized is because of his motivation. If he thought he could ride again without doing this, he would remain silent. Now he is just playing a game hoping to get back riding.

I predict he will be as successfull as Ben Johnson when he returned from his ban and was clean.

anyone's motivation would be to win, win, win, and be the best in the world, with that comes all of the
benefits, financially and otherwise, he is no different than anyone else cheating.

well, he was criticized so much for 'not' coming forward to 'tell all', now that he is, should he be
more criticized for doing so.

I believe that much of the backlash against Armstrong is the result of Lanny having used his name/fame to raise awareness and money for a lot of decent and charitable causes. He fabricated a reality about himself that made the general public take note and feel good about this man's accomplishments, particularly in the face of cancer let alone that he was an older competitor in a highly physically demanding event.

Armstrong perpetuated this lie for many years. He fought the allegations for many years and folks backed him for all that time... Now that he's come clean, one cannot feel anything but complete betrayal.

He conned the public for a long time and now he's apologizing and seeking forgiveness hoping that all will be forgotten and fade with time.

Sorry Lanny, but you will likely go down in history as one of the 21st century's most prominent fraudsters.

He was playing to win in a fixed game. Wrong as that might be, Lance Armstrong raised a hell of a lot of money for cancer and elevated cancer awareness, so I think Low-Life is a bit over the top.

anyone who is cheating is conning the public, it has become a complete turn off for me, for those sports
that have obviously been doing this, they are tainted, so I just watch certain sports, (baseball for eg)
for the love of the game, enjoy the plays, etc. I'm not that interested in cycling, but know it is a
dirty sport, and I don't care who it is, armstrong or any of the others who have been caught or not,
they are all the same. The more money they have made the more the public will hate them when they are
caught, but any of them, had they also come to the top, would have been the same, although most of them
probably would not have put so much toward cancer research etc., but doesn't matter, a cheater is a cheater,
and I don't differentiate, as they all were after what armstrong attained, he just happened to be the one.
If hockey begins to show doping problems, same thing will happen.

Lance Armstrong's net worth is over over $125, 000,000,00 He won't be broke any time soon. I'm sure a lot of it is salted away in numbered accounts here and there. I suggest he'll give back twenty or thirty million, leaving him in pretty good shape......better shape than he deserves.

Re: What a crock of sh*t- lowlife gets to continue "ride" to fame with Oprah!

That would have been my question.
The "Tour de France" is surely the pinnacle of cycling. The seven times this jerk won the thing using performance enhancing
drugs, he stole from honest competitors who didn't use drugs. I feel sorry for those who struggled and fought to win, only to lose
to this fake. Armstrong is an a$$ hole. Oprah did all the honest competitors a great disservice by having him on her show.

The Tour de France has been dirty before during and after Lance Armstrong. To be in the top 50, you'd have to be cheating, let alone win.

I am so liking this... it would be a blast to watch...and more honest than it's been in years.

My God! Could you imagine the he-men running in this, and the women shaving off their beards before the competition? And how many heart attacks on the field?

Advances in drug sports related science could make heart attacks a temporary set back, like a flat tire. A medical team intervenes like a racing car pit crew, replaces the heart, performs other maintenance, injects an adrenaline cocktail directly into thing's arteries and its back in the race.

Never knew how much he was worth. I understand that there are lawsuits coming or ongoing.

Imagine there may be a few libel cases for slandering people who were telling the truth.

Lets get serious for a moment, Lance raised a lot of money for cancer cannot deny that.
It was really like money laundering though, because Lace also raised money for Lance
some now say over a hundred million in personal gain.
In history there was a man named Billy Miner, the train robber, he stole a lot of money
over time but he gave money to the poor and he helped people pay their mortgage so
they all loved him. he was a conniving thief and robber who was pretty nasty when the
truth was known but hey he gave some crumbs to the poor made him a nice guy.

Truth is Lance Armstrong destroyed a lot of people who told the truth about his lies and
now the shoe is on the other foot. He should be an embarrassment even to the cancer
society. Lets see the paper in England is counter suing to get their money back after
Armstrong lied to a court win. What does that say about justice.
Others were in trouble as well he had them dropped from racing teams and bike companies
dropped certain business sales outlet on the word of Armstrong. So he raised money for
cancer he is still a lying cheating crook who deserves to be called out for his alleged crimes.
The trouble is if he gets out front of this thing he could keep some of the rip off millions he
received for lying, cheating and making fools of reputable organizations.

Lance Armstrong is a low-life? Really? Did his doping really affect your life that much? Let's be honest here. The cycling sport has made the baseball doping scandal look tame, but it was a rigged institution long before Lance came along. Funny thing is, if you were to seek out a clean individual you would have been hard pressed to find one. I'm not excusing Armstrong of his actions, but I find the low-life comment rather sensational. A low-life steals from old ladies, touches kids, sells crack cocaine. Lance Armstrong cheated at a sport and gave back to many people. You want to really say something, talk about the culture within cycling and how it created an environment rife with cheats.

Armstrong is simply the lightening rod because of his celebrity. Morally flawed? Sure. But hardly a low-life.

Lance Armstrong shares one main trait in common with the other examples of low-lifes you mention..................HE CAN'T BE TRUSTED?

Well I'd rather leave my kids in the company of Lance than any of those other untrustworthy folks I mentioned.

It's sad when this sh*t makes news headlines in a so-called respectable publication. No wonder the world is going to Hell in a hand basket!

Oprah confirms Lance Armstrong confessed to doping during interview | Sports | National Post

Worse and less relevant people have made the headlines before. Probably will again. Personally I couldnt care less about Lance Armstrong before or after the doping thing. I just dont care about sports or drugs in it.

I'd further that with, anyone who would judge him a lowlife for that is the lower life.

Not saying I'm any better. As the saying goes, it takes one to know one.
