You bet ya. Oka was a test of the metal of the Warrior Society. What was it... 36 warriors held off over 2000 armed enforcers of the dominant society? We ain't seen nothin' yet.

Not much of a test of anything when only one group acts.

If what Goober suggests actually comes to pass, you might expect to see a bilateral engagement, and he who has the organization and the technology will likely serve-up a heap of pain on the other

Well maybe I can get you back.LOL.
I'm not the only one who thinks like this.

And I hate doing this, I like to fight my own battles.

Why Chief Theresa Spence

Bermusa

That I would believe. There are thousands like you. Well meaning but with absolutely no clue. You took the bait, hook, lure, and sinker. Spence can quit her hunger strike if that is what it really is any time. Her choice. The freeloaders of the world depend on people like you to continue their lifestyle at our expense and they laugh all the way to the bank.

A standing army has never done well against a well trained and armed gorilla force. From what I have heard, many of the warrior society are ex-military. And they don't recognize borders.

They didn't hold off anybody within a hundred miles of their blockade. All they did is scare a bunch of politicians in Ottawa that didn't have the balls to let the police and the military do their job. The politicians were afraid that enforcing the law might cost them a few votes.

What law would that be? That that town had a right to build a golf course on a native burial ground? I think the armed enforcers of the dominant society knew that if they opened fire on those guys there would have been hell to pay from behind them.

I'm not advocating violence or confrontation... All I am saying is that any event that observed a full, bilateral exchange would result in loss and hardship for all... No winners here, just losers

I would love to know how you do the multi quote function Sal.
Hope that you understand I am about to answer in order in a different colour.

See this is the problem with reservations...there's separation they govern themselves.

They are not separate entities unto themselves Sal.

Exactly right once again, reservation is separation. I am not entitled to the same tax privilege...and there are other privileges they can have too should they desire it which I can not avail myself of simply because my parents were from Britian. It DOES create an us and them mentality. One can not have it both ways.

Are you saying don't build opera houses in TO? It is a completely separate issue, one is about the arts the other is about human beings and their living conditions.
Thats not why I presented opera houses. With what money does one build these opera houses ,sometimes tax dollars. Why do you think the wealth of Canada should not be a right of these people as well. Like that juan person are you of mind "We gave them wool and rifles , what else do they need" whats next sal, we gave them the Bible, what more do they want?"

Not sure what this refers to sorry.

What I am referring to is the amount of money already sunk into various reservations and yet it seems to quickly reduce itself to squalor, why is that?
See the other thread on alcoholism, it is a problem on the reserves. There is a genetic predispositon that is higher in the native population.
What do you think I'm saying?

Corruption is the reason most money goes the way of summer vacations sal.
Genetic disposition for a people that came from Asia to not be able to drink. I doubt it.

Wrong, changing my attitude will do nothing to help those on the reserve. Changing their attitude will. People need a hand up, not a hand out...we've already given the hand out and it didn't work.

Did we give the hand up Sal? Did we now? What do you think the movement is about Sal.

There are just so many systemic issues here that need to be addressed and your average persons attitude has zero affect upon those issues. There is drug abuse, alcoholism, early pregnancy, abuse perpetrated upon the women, and children. It's a mess that I can't even begin to address there are just so many psychological components involved. Throwing more money at the problem is not the answer.

It's not about throwing more money at anything sal.

It's about ending the money trail that currently has proven to be corrupt.

My take is that I feel billions need to be spent to bring to order a desperate situation.

If a water main breaks on Lawrnece Avenue are you going to complain about throwing more money at it.

The Native Canadians are Canadian Sal. Uniquely Canadian.

Right at the bottom of the posts are 3 buttons tagged as "Quick Reply", "Full Reply", and a little green thing behind the "Multi-quote" that you click that will include everyone's posts in your reply.
Either that or type in "quote" between the square brackets [] and then after the thing you quote, you type in /quote between the brackets [].

If I used that term regarding Soldiers killed you would be on a rant about this, that and whatever.
Yet you use it now as an excuse. You bias is showing and has been shown in these posts.
Dead is dead.

Oka Crisis - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I really don' get your accusation. The police officer was killed by a police issue bullet from what I remember. The police attacked the Mohawk. None of the Mohawk were charged with his death. What is your problem?

“Petros …Attawapiskat chief goes on hunger strike….Why they choose to live where there is no opportunity or a lifestyle where there is no opportunity?... Opportunity is available to anyone in Canada if they make that choice….etc, etc.”
“Petros… My neighbourhood ...” omg, this is your neighbourhood? In Regina? I do feel for your city. Thank you for posting these videos. We also have several, umm, ‘unique’ neighbourhoods in Edmonton. Although I don’t recall seeing anything quite so bad, not saying there isn’t tho. As the kids in your video say, it’s scary.
“Petros …Why they choose to live where there is no opportunity or a lifestyle where there is no opportunity?... Opportunity is available to anyone in Canada if they make that choice….”
I know several people who have basically ‘Ran Away’ from some reserves and are doing extremely well. Lawyers, teachers, etc. Although I also know some who don’t work at all; have the absolute newest (2012-2013) vehicles, have total health and dental benefits …(I can’t even afford to get my teeth cleaned never mind fixed.. ), I need prescription medication for emphysema, can’t afford that either..People come into the drugstore where I work and are GIVEN dietary supplements which are paid for by (some?) government agency. My vehicle is 25 years old, pretty much broken down and I can’t afford a tune-up. Where do they get the money for the absolute newest (2012-2013) vehicles??

Here is my 2 cents+GST and the 90 cents extra Attawapiskat already got from me earlier this year and God only knows how much to the 70+ social agencies in my neighbourhood alone not including the time I've given to the people and these agencies.

Dear Canada,

Where can I buy these people self-confidence, pride, unity, a purpose and a future that isn't already available at wholesale outlets Canada wide?

Why they choose to live where there is no opportunity or a lifestyle where there is no opportunity?

Opportunity is available to anyone in Canada if they make that choice.

"The Rez" should be somewhere safe to go AFTER you've gone out in the world and took advantage of the opportunities, raised a family and want to go relax and enjoy a quiet life where your kids and grandkids come visit to "get away from it all".

My neighbourhood makes 100's of Rezes look like National Parks.

I've been here a long time too right (my house is in that youtube video) smack in the middle of the craziness of off Rez life.

It impacts my own life 24/7 365

I have see immense positive change since my youth and the past 15 years that I've been back and settled in and I have seen everything is is to possibly see on the negative side in that time frame. Horrible horrible things, from blood spilled street to human trafficking.

The real issues of Idle No More are just as important to me as they are to those who are truly in it for change.

They are my Native and Metis and mixed firends, neighbours and relatives and have my respect.

I hope they find their leadership this this movement.

Leadership who can utilize the opportunities available to gain self-confidence, pride, unity, a purpose and a future and the ability to kick back and enjoy the feeling of achievement.

i honestly have trouble believing that most reserve members dont get free money.... Myreasoning is that i listen to all the different fellows who talk about just getting 40,000$ from the government and then seeing them drug binge it.... Land settlments i believe.... My question is why do these people portray themselves as receiving free money?
Although I know some who don’t work at all; have the absolute newest (2011-2013)… my vehicle is 25 years old and I still can’t afford a tune-up. Where do they get the money for the absolute newest (2012-2013) vehicles??

There is a lot of weed grown and meth made on some Rezes and the black market is strong in everything under the sun. The gangs have their reps sitting on the band circles and they are sure as **** orgnaized.

A**holes have the young girls hooked on those freebie "Status Symbol" pills.

They mainline them with morphine to get them so blasted and hooked that snorting or shooting in the arm doesn't get them off.

Coke, meth, booze, weed and pills galore.

These a**holes sell their girls, their women and some of the their men them in MY alley.

They turn their men into addicted basket cases, thieves and drug dealers who sell their own sisters and daughters on my streets and in my alley.

Stealing the hearts, minds and souls of their youth and leaving them to die from the highest rate of HIV/AIDS and other STDs, substance abuse related deaths and suicides in the free world.

The same people who run the Rezes are the ones running the urban crime syndicates.

These are the people creating all the other issues of crime, health, education, squalor, poverty, lack of unity, self respect, hope, pride and sense of accomplishment.

These people are tied in and organized and can easily hit places like Attawapiskat.

The corruption is real and it's going to stop.

It's going to stop because the people are Idle No More.

I wonder if Levant needs a tour of my neighbourhood?

He'd know why the cops are letting the people get attention so they can expose the corruption.

They are breaking the law to get into court to have their complaints on record.

Let the OWS dream catcher, Twilight and moonbeam types yap while the real **** goes down.

Spence is trying to look like she is clean.

Fact checking Chief Escalade's hunger strike. The "financials" begin at the 20 minute mark.

Levant almost gets it. He doesn't know the big picture and why the cops are standing down.

Sun media is a bias conservative wannabe Fox News Network. ROFL
It's a well known fact they are a conservative bent news. So is it really news? Or propaganda dressed up like a news media.
Does any one point out the fact that Mother Theresa ate everyday.
Many an anti poverty organizer is wealthy.
So , even if she is rich, what of it?

If she was poor and desolate she would not be Chief.

Harping on the fact she is receiving water and a liquid nutrient so she can talk doesn't take away from the fact she is on a hunger strike.lol.
People that fast have tons of energy, and can appear healthier than most.

There is this bias going around and well, you either feel that way or like me you say these people need a huge hand up.

Some of the posts in this thread are nasty as hell. It's "Bigot's are us", behind an internet connection.

Wanting to see the bad in what Chief Spence is trying to do, and doing, says a lot about your politics, and your person.

People just don't get the effect abject poverty, oppression, abuse, has on a people over hundreds of years.

The whole paradigm needs to be shifted from corruption to viable help.

In the sixties there were Native schools that were run like concentration camps , in Canada.
You can't have that , so close to our time and not have a huge swath of people lost.

These movements and protests, like the occupy wall street movement, are not necessarily Kosher.
They sure as hell are a barometer of our society.

Now just so you know , I'm not some NDP make the rich pay communist.
Nor am I satan lives in Harper's trousers and we need to unzip them and let him die.
Nor am I impressed at all with the present Liberal conundrum they call a party.
As for the Greens, nice talking sweet looking group of go nowhere any time soon crowd.

I'm more interested in Grass Roots movements and people that try to make a difference by volunteering in hospitals or food banks.
Something , anything that actually ignores the corruption of politics and a media bent on lobbying one particular party.

You simply are not capable of logical thought boy.

Actually, the Quebec Police did open fire and pull a frontal assault, in which officer Marcel Lemay was shot and killed.

Really Really stupid.

Now certainly the military could have crushed the protestors. But why?? Oka was one of the times the Indians were right.

I would love to know how you do the multi quote function Sal.
I just do it MYYYYYYYYYY way....lol.

I can't figure the damn thing out. I have only returned here after a long hiatus so I just fumble along until I learn how it is supposed to work.

Here's what I do; I hit the full reply. Then I remove the last quote box from the bottom of the post and paste it behind the end of the first sentence that I want to address. For instance on this one I removed the [/QUOTE] from the bottom and pasted it behind SAL up above. Then I happily keyboard behind it like I am here. After I have finished answering that piece of the paragraph, I find the next piece I want to address.

Let's use the sentence that starts with Hope and ends with colour. I highlight it and go up to the tools above. There is a box fourth from the end, if you hover over it a display appears which says : wrap quote tags around the selected text. Press on it. voila the next piece which you had highlighted becomes the next quote to address.

Hope that you understand I am about to answer in order in a different colour.
Hope my instructions help. :blob:

If a water main breaks on Lawrnece Avenue are you going to complain about throwing more money at it.
H E L L Yes!!! if it breaks daily and we keep spending money to repair it then you are damn right, I am going to complain soooo loud and I am going to campaign that we not throw more good money after bad.

The Native Canadians are Canadian Sal. Uniquely Canadian.
Okay ??? that is meaningless to me. Starving babies are just such, regardless of their Canadian uniqueness.
