Obama Campaign to Supporters: Don’t Panic Over Early Exit Polls
In a conference call this afternoon, President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign had one central message for their supporters when Election Day arrives tomorrow: They should “keep calm,” even if they hear snippets of information favoring Republican Mitt Romney.
“My warning, we need to stay calm for much of the day,” Stephanie Cutter, Mr. Obama’s deputy campaign manager, said, touting thousands of early ballots already submitted by voters. “We’ve already banked a pretty big portion of our vote.”
The fear, she explained, was early numbers leaking before voters have finished going to the polls, creating unnecessary panic and pessimism among Democrats.
“Keep calm and tweet on,” Ms. Cutter said. “So, no matter what you hear tomorrow about turnout in Republican counties or exit polls, particularly early in the day, please remember and remind your readers that, because of early votes, we’re where we need to be to win….I don’t think there’s going to be official exits until the end of the day, but if things leak out that aren’t validated or weighted, please stay calm.”

The guy is a scumbag. He basically promotes ethnic cleansing and genocide. He made a deal to retire instead of facing court martial for being a f*cking nutcase in Iraq. I wouldn't let him babysit a housefly let alone run the biggest military in the world.
The Electoral College is ridiculous. Faithless electors? Partisan selection of the POTUS and VPOTUS in ties? Candidates with the most votes losing the election?
It's ridiculous. I've heard before that the Electoral College forces candidates to focus on smaller states whereas they might tend to focus on the large cities instead...that's just BS reasoning. Obama and Romney have been largely campaigning in Florida, Iowa, Ohio, Nevada, and a handful of other swing states to the exclusion of the others. When was Obama last in California? Or Romney in Texas?

I never could understand the need for the electoral college. To me it would make more sense since everyone in the U.S. votes directly for the president, just to have the winner get the popular vote for the country and the individual states wouldn't enter into it. Maybe someone can fill me in on the rationale of the system.
Clinton vs Bush:
Why? Because Clinton was the better president.
And because Bush is...well, Bush is your typical republican.
Our Founding Fathers ostensibly believed in democracy - but their writings all point to a distrust of winning via popular vote. The Constitution does not specifically give anyone the right to vote - in those days this prerogative was given to the states to do as they defined what constitutes property and voting rights. These electors were appointed in those days by the states governors, people who were essentially elites and/or who owed favors to those governors. Thus, having these elites appointed as electors insured that elites would remain in power.
Why hasn't it been changed in all this time?
Not sure why, myself. But it is being considered by some.
