Is that the same project that OPEC said they needed to and will keep oil at over $100bbl until it's paid for? Wouldn't that mean Saudis are killing manufacturing jobs in Canada by inflating oil?
Those damn Saudi's!!!

You have to just love how the ideologues take a complex sector like oil, and try and make it so simplistic. So it fits neatly into their ideological box.

Yep, the same way the "tree huggers" take a complex matter like the environment and make IT so simplistic..................

Yep. It might surprise you, but I'm a tree hugger. I just know I live in the real world.

Not at all, so am I to a degree, but you like me probably don't go out sabotaging logging operations and putting productive people out of work!

And like me, you learned long ago, through experience, that throttling oil flows, causes wild price increases.

Anyone that doesn't understand that, for whatever reason, is either an idiot, or a blind ideologue.

Wasn't it outrageous inflation driven by the OPEC embargo in '74 that started the whole oil sands as an alternative to OPEC oil which was killing the economy?

I have one burning question, as messy as the entire operation of extracting oil from the sands is, is it not possible that if done correctly we can reap the profits from the resource and with proper cleanup procedures leave the environment in a better state than it previously was? Or am I asking a dumb question?

Who says it's not being done correctly? Greens who have no clue?

It seems a lot of people, but as you indicate, many of them are ignorant people. Protestors by their nature act from emotion and seldom do thorough research, like these peace advocators who gather in the city park singing hymns and praying, but they are mainly adversarial themselves........................mainly hypocrites!

Some just squawk for the sake of squawking.

Yep, they mainly see a "problem" they think should be addressed and appoint themselves as the ones to address it and solve it (hee hee) don't bother to consult any experts or try to negotiate in a sane and sensible manner. One prime example is when they protested a logging operation on the west coast and when the cops came to arrest them smeared themselves with human sh*t and climbed a tree and starting hurling sh*t at the cops. Very credible idiots!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Then there was the Clayoquot protesters who left behind 3 dump trucks full of trash and feces in a "pristine rainforest".

The protest would have ended really quick had BC Social Service cut off welfare cheques to the protesters.

And given them something else to protest. Maybe there should be a law against protesting by welfare recipients..................ooh ooh, I'm forgetting about Trudeau's rights and freedoms..........me bad!

There already is. If you are capable, you have to be actively seeking employment to get welfare. Smoking dope and camping isn't exactly "actively seeking employment" is it?

Like all industrial operations, it constantly improves. So, it maybe done 'correctly' according to today's technology, but not as seen from ten years down the road.

And one of the driving factors to improve how things are done is the environmental movement, because it increases public pressure.

And public disgust, generally by the more intelligent sector of the public.

So why isn't the "environmental movement" investing in R&D to offer up and sell solutions?

In many cases, the protestors do not question the underlying realities about the issues, they simply are given the 'correct thoughts' from whatever lobby they represent... And, much like a rabid dog, they adopt the most narrow of focuses and and march into a realm of idiocy

Then there was the Clayoquot protesters who left behind 3 dump trucks full of trash and feces in a "pristine rainforest".

They call that spot the Black Hole. After the 'save the planet concert' that Midnight Oil put on, the ecotards turned that part of Calyquot into a moonscape.

So why isn't the "environmental movement" investing in R&D to offer up and sell solutions?

What?... And actually contribute to a solution?

Not a chance in hell on that account
