Our election last fall in SK was the same American **** storm style as in AB this spring. It's best to just batten down the hatches and ride out a **** storm

Appears his apology was crap - he had also made the same comments during a TV interview. The other time this fellow made these comments was just on Global Edmonton

What say you Danielle - Free speech or Racism - You were just on TV stating you would not tolerate Racism. So whatca gonna do Babe.

Wildrose candidate apologizes for white advantage remark | CTV News

A candidate for Alberta's Wildrose party has apologized for saying that he had a political advantage in the upcoming provincial election because he is white.

Ron Leech, the Wildrose candidate in Calgary-Greenway, said in a radio interview Sunday night that "as a Caucasian I have an advantage."

"When different community leaders such as a Sikh leader or a Muslim leader speaks they really speak to their own people in many ways," Leech said on the "South Asian" program, which airs on the CHKF station in Calgary. "As a Caucasian, I believe that I can speak to all the community."

The thing is Goober, there is an element of truth to what he said: every cultural or racial group has its biases and members of its populace who reject outsiders, and white people of primarily British and other Northern European heritages are the dominant demographic in Alberta. It doesn't mean we're all, or even that most of us are bigots (which history has proven we aren't, contrary to what some opinions in other parts of the country may be), but that he will appeal even to those who are.

He came across as telling people that vote for me - not a minority as they will only look after their own people. I think he is a wing nut - And I think the WR has quite a few in the Party.

His words.

DePape's BACK!

Rogue Ottawa page protests silently as Wildrose’s Smith votes

Wildrose party Leader Danielle Smith was met by a silent protester as she left a community centre after voting in High River, south of Calgary, this morning.

Ms. Smith joked with reporters as she cast her ballot that she was voting strategically this election.

Outside the Highwood Memorial Centre she was greeted by Brigette DePape, the page who disrupted the federal throne speech last year with her “Stop Harper” sign.

Dressed in a page costume with white gloves, she stood in front of Ms. Smith holding a sign that read “Stop Harper's Gang.”

Ms. Smith observed that her party must be doing well if the opposition was importing protesters from Ottawa.

Ms. DePape said she was there on her own to speak for young people, saying that Wildrose policies are even more extreme than those of the Harper government.

That happens in the various media outlets whenever there is a provincial election in any province. Alberta's election possibly garners a little more interest this time because a) Alberta is driving a lot of the economic development for the entire country and b) if the PCs lose, it will end a 40 year run.

Well, it seems Wild Rose took a bit of a sh*t kicking, not surprising I guess as they may be a bit too "right wing". Maybe a kin to the Birch John Society!

Well, has nothing to do with me, thankfully.....but I do have two obsevations:

1. Demonization and innuendo work in politics, no matter how far fetched.

and

2. Albertans will be sorry.

Ouch for the Wildrose.

Everyone was predicting they would win a healthy majority.

Looking at the numbers, they lost a lot of extremely close races.

PC
Percentage: 43.98%
Ridings: 62 (Majority victory)

Wildrose
Percentage: 34.51%
Ridings: 17

Wildrose is green
PC is blue
The pollsters got it wrong
And the media too

With the Wildrose major loss gets egg on Ezra Levant's face and that alone is worth it

At its finest! What would you have them do? Hand over a bunch of seats to the losing party?

This Alberta election proved me wrong and most Albertans do not like rednecks and that is thanks to the large influx of easterners that came to Alberta over the years to help build the province to it's present glory.

Ohhhhhhhhhh, so they tagged the Easterners' ballots so they know how they voted. Albertans may be rednecks but I think the voting is on the up and up!
