Why not just eliminate cars?
Then Alberta would be a welfare state.
Cell phones are no worse than the people that read and drive. Possibly safer since you really don't need to look to talk.

I was being rhetorical.
The underlying spirit was that car accidents will occur regardless of what nany statism we impose... Let's face facts, take a look at the sheer number of (small) accidents there are in a parking lot. The root problem stems from so many different causes that eliminating one (albeit one that causes catastrophic results) won't change a thing.
I wonder if a guy who is up on a charge of "impaired driving causing death" were to tell the judge that, would beat the rap!
How about those folks that are behind the wheel when they are over-tired?
Hell, I watched a guy reading the news paper while he was driving... Tell me which is worse?
Where the problem lies is it's impossible to think of two things at the same time.
They are equally stupid, you can't condone one crime by the stupidity of another, which is worse? Losing your left eye or losing your right eye?

I don't think it's a matter of one being worse than the other. I think anyone who's too stupid to get that you can't read the newspaper and watch the road at the same time is simply too stupid to be operating a motor vehicle. Same goes for texting.
Obviously you can't ever eliminate any and all distractions but to me it all comes down to the fact that you have to earn the privilege for a license to operate a motor vehicle. I don't know, I just think there are enough idiots on the roads with both hands on the wheel and eyes forward, we shouldn't be making further allowances for them.

and just look back at this thread to find all the excuses to allow drinking and driving. Or the excuses for drinking and driving.
Drinking and driving I have zero tolerance for. To me, the potential risk for injury and death is just too great. If it inconveniences the ones who are capable of having a drink or maybe two with dinner and capable of driving home in a safe manner, that's just too bad. Like driving is not a right, neither is drinking. Very little makes my blood boil more than some man or woman who plows down a child or other innocent bystander then gets some ridiculous sentence for it.
There is just no reason for drinking and then driving. Period.
I am not a bigot and I never was but I met a lot of bigots in Alberta but I listened and I am proud of my eastern values which is more fair
Wildrose renews idea of Alberta ‘firewall’ within Canada
Wildrose renews idea of Alberta
"Wildrose’s policy book calls for the creation of an Alberta Pension Plan, which would see the province follow Quebec’s lead and withdraw from the Canada Pension Plan."
"Echoing the famous “firewall” manifesto of a decade ago, Wildrose party leader Danielle Smith says Alberta would “assert itself” in Canada under her government and have the ear of a sympathetic prime minister in Ottawa."
Wildrose is sounding more like a seperatist party just the way Reform sounded in the beginning.
Sounds like our federal Conservative government is ready to give more power to the provinces thus making Canada null and void.
This was what the Reform wanted was to break up Canada when they first formed their party.
Yep. And the whole thing stems from the North Am attitude towards booze and its people's lack of responsibility concerning it. Responsibly teaching kids right from the getgo to begin with would likely cause them to drink responsibly. Simply telling kids they can't drink until they are 19 is stupid, IMO, because that just makes them more curious and likely to get into it before they are 19. Then a lot of them start binge-drinking. That kills people.Drinking and driving I have zero tolerance for. To me, the potential risk for injury and death is just too great. Person with a t-shirt tan.Gez, I was born and raised in Alberta and have, for all but about 14 years, lived here. Please, tell me what is the meaning of redneck so that when I meet one I'll know.
Thanks so much!

Yep. One thing, though, eyes should be everywhere. You should be aware of what's going on with the instrument panel, aware of what's going on around you, as well as what's going on in front of you.I don't think it's a matter of one being worse than the other.
