Nice to see that there isnt too much modern pop country on this thread. When it comes to country I'm a fan of the older stuff. Hank Williams (the first), George Jones, Kris Kristofferson etc. I think the only modern poppy country person I like is Brad Paisley. Funny guy.
You got that right, Hank Thompson, Hank Locklin and Hank Snow are right up there too, along with Porter Waggoner!

Slim was good (maybe he's still alive), good voice. Everly Bros. Brenda Lee- different genre! Ferlin was good.

Somebody snooping through my record collection again? I played a lot of this stuff over the
years when I was on radio and I collected tons of it. I have all these old albums, and some
on 78's. White Sport Coat with Marty Robins is one of those songs. It was on 78 for the old
jukeboxes and it came out on 45rpm for home record sales and of course the albums as well.
I don't care too much for the stuff that has come out in the last four years but the old stuff I
still like and we play it around here on the farm a lot.
I also like rock and roll from the beginning and have tons of it too. I wonder how many remember
groups of artists that went on to be famous with top notch groups like Blind Faith.
As for country, it always has a subject and a story to tell you. It can be about one hell of a Saturday
Night or at the deep end of depression. Today they young people are into country in a major way
and many who started with today's country are going back and finding out about Waylon, the Hag,
George Jones and others, so country will be around for a long time to come.

I noticed someone mentioned Bobby Bare, remember the album Lullaby's Legends and lies?
There were some great songs on that one or the Drunk and Crazy album.
