It always irks me when some Canadian guy will put on a cowboy hat and a frilly shirt and and an Alabama accent to sing "country music" about his dog, hi girlfriend, or his pickup truck. Sometimes when I'm driving I listen to country music because that is the only damn station I can tune in.

So you do not like or appreciate good country music - What type of music do you enjoy?

Don't quite understand why that would irk you. Maybe the guy enjoys it and can relate to his dog, his girl friend and his pickup.

Yep, I like him, wasn't all that much acquainted with him before listening to these 3 songs. Good voice.

Pour me something tall and strong.

Yep, 'bout as close as I get to country.
Country music industry spit on Buffett. You know, the good ol' boys of Nashville.

BTW, it's way past 5 o'clock in Margaritaville. Yeee Haaa!

I note with interest that a number of the performers listed as country stars were at one time considered rock and roll or pop. It is interesting to note that includes early rock and roll stars like Buddy Holly and even Elvis Presley. Presley at one time was actually banned on most country stations as were a number of those given country status.

Yes, this happened to Jimmy Buffett and, get this, Kenny Rogers, you know, when he went all hippie druggie with The First Edition. I heard him on the CBC this morning.

I played a lot of music over the years both on radio and in the nightclubs. I played all kinds
Rock and Roll the oldies and of course Country Music. I like it all but I think I preferred the
Country section the best. Those radio stations had the nicest listeners and the clubs featured
a real good clientele. My wife and I have a collection of all kinds of stuff we could play country
music all day for almost a year and never play the same song twice. Again rock the same thing.
I now take grand kids down stairs and let them hear the original,, of the remake they think is new.
Every now and then the older ones go down there and thumb through the vinyl library and come
up with some stuff to record. Mostly they like the album covers I think,
The problem with some of today's country is it more pop than country. but then it depends on when
you came to country music and sooner or later country fans tend to explore the roots of country
that means I need to listen to more of the new stuff and see if I can appreciate this stuff.
I like Bobby Bare Hank Jr Tom T Hall, Merle is my favourite, along with Willie George Jones,
Ed Bruce who was a great writer, and many like that. Mel McDaniel and Gene Watson or
Roy Clarke.
who would you say are your top ten country music artists?
