Yes they do and they need a license to operate boats,drivers licenses and hefty fines for stupid drivers and stupid people using jackhammers usually only injure themselves. Stupid people taking their kids canoeing on a river without life jackets, are ticketed and if their children drown, they can be charged with manslaughter.

That is a misnomer- a murderer in Canada can not receive a minimum sentence of more than 25 years in prison. Olson has already served considerably more.

If their parole is not approved, the keep on a servin time............hopefully till they rot; as in the case of Olsen.

Sorry but my dad had a higher than average IQ. He had 3 university degrees and as I said knew how to handle guns (which it appears is the only criteria you recognize as having a modicum of intelligence) It was a moment of inattention, not a case of stupidity.

I have weapons in my home, never loaded in the house, ever. And because my primary safety is always on, my sons would never have touched a weapon without asking, even when they were young. Nor would I have been so stupid to place a loaded weapon, where an ignorant child I didn't raise, could get a hold of it.

Dad kept his guns locked up in one place and the bullets in another and he carried the keys. I would not be so stupid as to trust any child not to touch a weapon without asking, young or not. As I said it was a moments inattention and I was less than 6 inches away from him.

My kids have had weapon safety drilled into their heads since they were old enough to walk. And i would not ever bring a loaded firearm in to the house. Not even the hunting lodge.

At eight years old I had my own .22 and was considered mature enough to go hunting rabbits and partridges on the family farm. I also knew enough to unload and remove the bolt before entering the house.
