Ah, I now understand the male fascination with guns!! It is seen as an extension of the penis by those ruled by the little head. Should have known.
.
Ah... another sexist comment. The ladies are on a roll tonight!

My wife will be tickled pink to hear that. She loves shooting and hunting.Ah, I now understand the male fascination with guns!! It is seen as an extension of the penis by those ruled by the little head. Should have known.
So because your dad was a moron, you're now afraid of guns. At least we now know the apple didn't fall far from the tree.My dad was a marksman and had a huge collection of guns. He came back from hunting when I was about 8 and guns were put on the table. Three hunting companions came in with him and were excited about getting the best hunting on the way home.
They always made a habit of unloading and breaking open the guns before coming home. This time they didn't. They were so busy chatting they never noticed me picking up a rifle and aiming it at my mother. I certainly never intended to fire the thing, just wanted to see how it worked. Dad saw what I was doing and tilted the rifle upwards.
I threw up when he broke open the rifle & unloaded it. Never touched a gun since.
Ya, you just said you have an irrational fear, based on the stupidity of your father.I am a reasonable, sober adult, who is very aware of how dangerous guns are and how a single inattentive moment around one could change life forever.
No one here does that, unless they're in bear country, or going hunting. So, when I come across those who drive with a gun beside them or sleep with one under their pillow, (and I have come across those who do so) I become very uncomfortable.

Of course it is, she agrees with you...thanks for sharing that . A sensible and reasonable post and a treasure to read.
Can you back that up with fact? One of my "issues" with guns is that the example you describe happens a lot more than we reallize.
How often is that?We only hear about those that make the media.
Why? Are you a piss poor parent like bluebyrds dad? Are you projecting your own inadequacies on other parents? When I even think of guns in a household with young and curious children..........I truly shudder.
I agree, but if the majority were as you portray them, they would be in the news far more often. Not everyone is a RESPONSIBLE gun owner.
Is hunting acceptable? An appreciation of craftsmanship?Folks get guns for many many reasons. but offer what they think are acceptable reasons.
Well that answers that question. I guess I can just cram my traditional native culture, because you think people don't need to hunt for food.In this day and age, there is NO NEED to kill for food .
There you go passing judgment again. So it becomes a sport. a very deadly sport .
There's the name calling. If the gun owner and user was the only one to get hurt........so be it. It is the innocent victims that these bozos seldom think about.
I agree, I bet that was what was wrong with bluebyrds dad.but in a bizarre, sick way guns make some feel powerful and manly.
Oh yes it is sexist and pretty darn hard to deny it is right on the mark.
The guns in most of those pictures of women are secondary to the sexy poses of the ladies.
I didn't notice any guns accompanied by a sexy man or as man in a sexy pose.

That is a misnomer, a gun is no more dangerous than a hammer or a hacksaw or a golf ball, it's the human animal who is dangerous (often through stupidity) - anything that is capable of motion or creating motion CAN be deadly! A gun by itself doesn't do anything!

If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times. Which is likely why my boys have a high level of gun safety and respect...And the best gun safety is not on the firearm....it's between your ears!
Ocean Breeze; In this day and age said:What food can you eat without killing it?
The list of things OB was never tought is immense.obviously OB was never taught that lesson.
In OB's world, food grows on trees already wrapped in plastic. What food can you eat without killing it?
A sexist would think that of course.
Says who?!
Check out the caliber on this one!
Yup, the caliber of her underwear is excellent, if a little skimpy.

You'll have to search for those pictures yourself.
Who the hell buys metal underwear?Much prefer a man with a flesh penis and of course in as skimpy a pair of underwear as the lady above is wearing. Metal ones are a turn off.

What's your point? Stupid people drive cars, stupid people operate boats, stupid people operate jack hammers, stupid people take their kids canoeing in the river. It's the people who are the common denominator, not the guns![/QUOTE
Yes they do and they need a license to operate boats, drivers licenses and hefty fines for stupid drivers and stupid people using jackhammers usually only injure themselves. Stupid people taking their kids canoeing on a river without life jackets, are ticketed and if their children drown, they can be charged with manslaughter.
You are right guns do not fire themselves, but children do, gangsters and psychos do right along with the stupid ones. The main difference is that the main purpose of a gun is to kill.......not take us from place to place like boats, cars, planes or for making improvements like saws, hammers, screwdrivers or even jackhammers.
The main purpose of guns, bombs, and rockets is to kill. They have no other purpose. Even target practice is to become more accurate in putting that bullet where it will do the most damage..........on humans or animals.

So, take the guns away from gangsters and psychos, and teach the kids proper respect for them, and leave me the hell alone.
