So why go through the trouble over nothing more than a personal attack against a person?

Because the goal wasn't a personal attack...she got to give her message afterwards. There are events that she would have anticipated would follow her stunt in the Senate chamber, with certainty:
1) Ejection.
2) Fired.
3) Interviews with media.

And just like anything else, it will more than likely be forgotten about in a month.

I wonder if she will ever get another job that paid close to what she was getting as a page?

Yeah, it's dumb to cut your nose off to spite your face.

Easilly. She would have made $13,007 in 26 installments, if she had been employed for the full term, and received the bonus at the end. People are kidding themselves if they think this stunt won't open doors while closing others.

She deserved to be fired, there are times we can carry so called freedom of speech to far. You do not insult your boss in public and expect nothing to happen. She stood up for what she believed and paid for it with her job.

To quote Benjamin Franklin: "Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote."

Now she is a liberal with character, someone will hire her, she is a rare breed.

And she didn't even handle that well. For the most part it was an anti-Harper rant. Sure she mentioned some policy issues, and on may fronts I agreed with her, but she only pointed out the problems, not concrete solutions.

If she had any concrete solutions, she could run the country. We have to keep in mind she is only a idealistic 21 years old with enough guts to stand up for what she believes in. What impressed me was that she did it as a individual, not with a ranting mob behind her.

She made her choice. Not a very bright one in my opinion, but it was hers to make. While she will be regarded by those who dislike the Prime Minister as somewhat of a young Maverick, I do not think it will have a lasting effect.

McDonalds pays better. A Sharpie and a pile of french fry boxes could get a message out with far more pay but I'm sure quite less effective.

Youth in Parliament eh? Too bad the Speaker is married, they could have hooked up and played Playstation.

It's fine for her to dislike Harper, but her actions were completely inappropriate, and she should be found in contempt of Parliament. As a page, she is supposed to be an impartial worker for Parliament.

I think she should be found in contempt of parliament too. Then she can be PM. That's how it works right?

Haha. Actually that's a bandanna.

There's not a lot of hair left to cut on this bowling ball.

Harper was never found in contempt of parliment, the opposition cast a vote on it but we pretty much knew their opinion before they even cast it.
