I haven't read all the posts, but I just have to say, I immigrated to the US from the UK with my family when I was a child. I never liked it, I never fit in because either I wasn't "black enough" because I spoke with an English accent and of course I am a foreigner with brown skin so I don't fit in with anyone else. I live in a "red" state and see that narrow minded, xenophobic, homo-phobic, racist, nationalist, garbage daily.
I think the US has to keep shouting that they are the best country in the world to convince themselves more than convincing other people. Other people see it for what it is all about. I miss the UK with all my heart because it is a great place and it was my home and will be moving to Canada because it is a great place and will be my new home and the people are freaking AWESOME. If the US was so great, I wouldn't have so many Americans wanting me to take them with me....
Enough said.
What you haven't learned is that it is not us crying out that were the best all the time, it is others saying that this or that is better. In reality we know who we are and our place in this world. you like Great Briton or Canada so much moveome, you will be happier and better off.
