So are you saying that they carried out the survey in 2007, but reported the results in 2009? That would explain Iceland's high position. It would be interesting to see how Iceland fairs in 2010 or 2011.
It'll likely be 2012 or 2013 using 2010 figures.

Is that a new verb I hadn't previously heard of?:lol::lol:

The difference in rankings between 4th and 13th has an infinite number of possibilities, anywhere from a small fraction of 1% to 50 or 75% or even a lot more.

For 2007 those are the total figures which led to the rank of 4th and 13th. There's only one case they can apply to. So the difference is about 1% only, not maybe some other ration.

Absolutely - I think you and I took the original statement in different contexts and I'm thinking now mine was wrong.:smile::smile:

Scary looking bunch. Reminds me of Canucks at a hockey game.

That was JLM that mentioned "fairing" being a new verb, actually. I just quoted him and he has a tendency to omit the right bracket from the quotes he uses which messes up the post of anyone that quotes him. lol

I know. I just laughed at your comment because I believe "fairing" should be a verb.

I don't..... oh I guess that makes me a nobody then

The US is the ONLY country in the world that respects your individual rights?

Hardly the only country in the world that does this..... besides, isn't it the US who has the Patriot Act where they can just wave that around and can do pretty much whatever they damn well please, regardless of your rights?

Isn't it the US who's randomly and unjustly rounding people up at airports and borders, detaining those people for however long they please, sending those people off to torture camps..... sorry, "interrogation camps" for months on end without notifying anybody until after the fact of where you are?

Aren't they also the same country that holds "Suspects" without charge outside of their own country to avoid any of their own legal restrictions on what they can do to their prisoners and usually ends up releasing these people without any charges, no apologies or excuses as to why they put these people through all this crap, as if these people are tagged animals being released back into the wild?

Racial Profiling?

Talking the talk is one thing..... walking the walk is something else.

In other words, just because a country preaches and boasts 24/7 that they're the greatest nation in the world and respect freedoms and rights for all in some fashion of equality, doesn't actually make it so..... in the end, it's just words.

Nope.... too late, the bait has been taken

Exactly.... every country has it's problems..... especially the ones who try and boast they don't.... they have the most problems of all, lol.

Better, worse who really cares. For the most part those of us on these forums are from the same or similar background both historically and what we are today. You could blind fold almost anyone and put them in either country and they couldn't tell you where they were immediately. We both have people who care about doing something for others and those who just criticize and do nothing. Yes, I am proud to be an American, just as some of you are proud to be Canadians and I wouldn't have it any other way.

You really have no idea what it is like in the U.S. just another critic that believes what they think they are reading. You are beginning to bore me. We as does Canada know we are the best countries in the world to live in and if you happen to be from one of these great countries, shame on you for not realizing it.

I think the USA used to be a super power, and now it is being taken down by the shadow government (the elite/Illuminati) to become a military state with millions being slaughtered or... killed in other ways, such as HAARP causing tsunamis, earthquakes and hurricanes: now the Corexit in the Gulf of Mexico.

This leads to the New world Order, housed in Israel, and just watch USA 'mothering' the Israelis now parked and waiting to nuke Iran.

I truly hope Canada survives.

I haven't read all the posts, but I just have to say, I immigrated to the US from the UK with my family when I was a child. I never liked it, I never fit in because either I wasn't "black enough" because I spoke with an English accent and of course I am a foreigner with brown skin so I don't fit in with anyone else. I live in a "red" state and see that narrow minded, xenophobic, homo-phobic, racist, nationalist, garbage daily.
I think the US has to keep shouting that they are the best country in the world to convince themselves more than convincing other people. Other people see it for what it is all about. I miss the UK with all my heart because it is a great place and it was my home and will be moving to Canada because it is a great place and will be my new home and the people are freaking AWESOME. If the US was so great, I wouldn't have so many Americans wanting me to take them with me....
Enough said.
Don't Expect every American to be PERFECT.................

We all have things we are proud of and ashamed of. The USA is incredible in some ways and sadly lacking in others. Comparatively speaking I don't think it's any different here in Canada. I'm sure if we had a larger population base and the government had more tax dollars to waste then we also would have a lot more to be ashamed of. When was the last time you saw any government act responsibly with money? Give them enough of it and they end up doing stupid things.

Maybe the question should be... What is your opinion of the current United Stated Government and their policies. I am sure the US has some pretty incredible people and it would be absolutely wrong of me to point out the shortcomings of a few compared the the good deeds of many.

So my official response is that I think in general the States has some damn good folks who deserve praise for some of their incredible accomplishments.
