Tell ya what. In responding to your research question. Fact is, Canadians are not much different than Americans. Our respective nations are about the same age and both nations were "settled" by (primarily) Europeans (to the displeasure of the indigineous peoples).
In terms of Canada, you should look at the different regions that were 'settled'. In Canada, the Eastern provinces were the initial landing point for the colonial powers... If you go back far enough, there are Viking settlements in Newfoundland, but after that, it was teh French and the English colonists that arrived in force and fought. That said, to this day, there is a rift between these segments to continues today.
Western Canada was 'settled' at a much later date than the East, but again the predominate groups were European (again, to the displeasure of the native communities).
So, with this in mind, Canadian culture is a grab-bag of other cultures that have evolved over time.
