Thomas Jefferson said: "When people fear the government, it is tyranny, when the government fears the people it is liberty".

Seems like under the Obama administration, in less than two years, Americans learned to fear the government so much that they are willing to die to defy it.

Wyoming Rep. Lummis: Estate tax rise has some planning death

The way the government trembles now, seeing the inevitable coming on November 2nd, there is hope that LIBERTY is returning.

Too funny! People rightfully feared the government under Dubya, except the control freaks, they loved the Patriot Act. There have always been people who have feared every government and with good reason. By comparison to the Bush administration, the Obama administration is closer to Abe Lincoln to Bush's Hitler.

Not surprisingly - considering the source - this sentence makes no literal or grammatical sense:

"By comparison to the Bush administration, the Obama administration is closer to Abe Lincoln to Bush's Hitler."

"That is english" said petros, who does not know or just ignores the meaning of upper case/capital letters. His "english" shared by Cliffy, as seen above.

Grammar banality aside, living vicariously through the ups and downs of a nation whose laws you don't live by is strange, to say the least.

And I would argue that Americans haven't learned to fear, so much as they have been conditioned to fear, for two years. I mean seriously, calling him a Muslim?

YewKinJacque is criticizing someone's writing? Isn't he/she the one who whines when anyone points out his/her mistakes, and falls back on the 'not my first language' and 'it's a simple typo' excuses?

Let me fix that for you Jack.
In comparison to Bush's Hitler, Obama is more like Abe Lincoln.

The Time Has Indeed Come!

Governors of 35 states have already filed suit against the Federal Government for imposing unlawful burdens upon them. It only takes 38 (of the 50) States to convene a Constitutional Convention.

For too long we have been too complacent about the workings of Congress. Many citizens had no idea that members of Congress could retire with the same pay after only one term, that they specifically exempted themselves from many of the laws they have passed (such as being exempt from any fear of prosecution for sexual harassment) while ordinary citizens must live under those laws. The latest was to exempt themselves from the Healthcare Reform ... in all of its forms. Somehow, that doesn't seem logical. We do not have an elite that is above the law.

I truly don't care if they are Democrat, Republican, Independent or whatever. The self-serving must stop.
A Constitutional Convention - this is a good way to do that. It is an idea whose time has come. And, with the advent of modern communication, the process can be moved along with incredible speed. There is talk out there that the "government" doesn't care what the people think. That is irrelevant. It is incumbent on the population to address elected officials to the wrongs afflicted against the populace...you and me. Think about this...
The 26th amendment (granting the right to vote for 18 year-olds) took only 3 months & 8 days to be ratified! Why? Simple! The people demanded it. That was in 1971...before computers, before e-mail, before cell phones, etc.
Of the 27 amendments to the Constitution, seven (7) took 1 year or less to become the law of the land...all because of public pressure.

I'm asking each addressee to forward this Email to a minimum of twenty people on their Address list; in turn ask each of those to do likewise.

In three days, most people in The United States of America will have the message. This is one proposal that really should be passed around.

Proposed 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution:
"Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators and/or Representatives; and, Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators and/or Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States .."

Not sure if he likes the theater or not.

Hey, Y.J. - You are very touchy yourself when corrected for grammatical errors, so why not give Cliff the same consideration for neglecting to type the word "than"?

Not sure what good forwarding this would do since we do not get to vote in the US anyway. Don't understand why YJ spends so much time trolling and spewing hateful lies about a government he has less than zero control over either. For the most part the carrying on in US government has no effect on us anyway other than clowns like Harper try to emulate their worst antics.
I am far more concerned about getting some politicians in Canada with at least half a brain and a desire to improve our country instead of seeing how they can milk the taxpayer for their own benefit.

I disagree. As our closest neighbour, largest trading partner and being a huge international presence all affect us in many ways. This doesn't get into the cultural influence Americans exert through their domination of the commercial media, through TV, film and music. In some ways the decisions of the US gov't affect Canadians more than those of the Canadian gov't. Its why Canadian news reports always keep tabs on what is happening south of the 49th.

I am far more concerned about getting some politicians in Canada with at least half a brain and a desire to improve our country instead of seeing how they can milk the taxpayer for their own benefit.

I think that is something people all over would agree on. I also think those in the US who think the Tea Party is an answer to this quandary are in for as big, if not a bigger disappointment than those who voted for Obama's "change", the biggest reason being the contradictory nature of their own desires and aspirations for their gov't.

I'm pretty sure the people who fear the government that gives out health insurance to poor children are actually just being cowardly.
