YES YES AND YES. I read somewhere last week that a few places in Spain HAVE now outruled this barbaric "sport". Lets just hope that many more will follow and that it is not just driven underground. Lets hear it for the bulls!

Hopefully they killed the animal humanely. I'd suggest something similar to a hakapik.

What they do in their country is their business-after all they did eat the thing afterward.

Thats a bit like saying what the Germans did to the jews in their country was their business - after all they buried them afterwards.

Thats a bit like saying what the Germans did to the Jews in their country was their business - after all they buried them afterwards. Inhuman is inhuman, cruelty is cruelty and is not bound by any individual country, just because they think it acceptable.

Thats like saying that what the Germans did to the Jews in their country was THEIR business. Inhuman is inhuman, cruelty is cruelty no matter wheter or not a country feels it "acceptable". I cannot believe Bills comment.

Yeah, and they should be made to speak English, too.
Yeah - after the Americans.

Thats like saying the attrocities committed by the Nazis in their country was THEIR own business. Inhuma is inhuman, cruelty is cruel where ever it happes.I annot believe Bills comment

No offense, Dingus.....but equating bullfighting and the Holocaust is WAY over the edge.

Human Beings are not animals.

And Mr. Hemmingway would be rolling in his grave over the idea of ending bullfighting.

I love Hemmingway.

In case you hadn't noticed Colpy, humans ARE animals (some more than others) Of COURSE there is no comparison. I was trying to make the point that we are all accountable, and just to say that a country carries out cruel acts just because it can (wheter against animals OR humans) is no justification. I hope you can see what I was trying to get at.

Fair enough.......

But cruel acts are a fact of nature, and if we are animals, should we be held to a higher standard??

I am divided over bullfighting. I recognize the cruelty of it, and the extreme drama
of a life-and-death confrontation, the courage of the matador, the skill and beauty of the deadly dance........in a way, its passing would be a great loss.....

I think it is ludicrous that Spain is excused for bullfighting, while Canada is castigated by the idiots of the EU for the seal hunt.

It's not cruel that a lion must eat a gazelle to survive, it's just nature. The lion eats, or it dies. There is no such dichotomy in human entertainment.

If we are to live by the standard of nature, then civilized life has no place, and the place you hold for Hemmingway would be ironic.

Anyone not rooting for the bull deserves to be poked by arrows, tortured by sadists and put in a ring surrounded by bulls and let the SOB fight for his/her life.

Isn't it astonishing that the same people who gave the world Placido Domingo can take sadistic pleasure in seeing an innocent animal tortured to death?

Isn't it astonishing that someone can reach the age of majority and still have the most childish/juvenile/peurile POV?
