Fair enough.......

But cruel acts are a fact of nature, and if we are animals, should we be held to a higher standard??

Absolutely as although we are animals, we have the added advantage of conscience and a knowledge of good and bad. In nature death is brought about by predators using what they have (teeth claws etc) and usually just for food, and usually their "victims" are dispatched quickly. Human animals taking part in bullfighting (or fox hunting here in England) etc. seem to revel in tormenting the animals they kill, torturing them before deliveringb the coup des gras. At least in nature the prey has a fighting chance to get away, bulls in the bull ring have NO chance. Even if they fight back they are slaughtered.

I am divided over bullfighting. I recognize the cruelty of it, and the extreme drama
of a life-and-death confrontation, the courage of the matador, the skill and beauty of the deadly dance........in a way, its passing would be a great loss.....

I agree, just as I love the spectacle of a fox hunt but not the end result. However please bear in mind that the bull is stuck by spears a number of times to makeit bleed and so weaken it before it is brought to its knees and then killed by the "brave" matador. I'm really not impressed.

I think it is ludicrous that Spain is excused for bullfighting, while Canada is castigated by the idiots of the EU for the seal hunt.

I think this is horrific too but at least they are dispatched quickly and not teased, and tortured bafore they are killed (unless you know something I dont?)

Take care Colpy

No it's struck in the shoulder muscles to make it lower it's head/so it's less dangerous.

There's more to fighting a bull than crying and wetting oneself.

I'm sure there is but it is so one sided and as said previously, there is no way out for the bull. Some "sport". Being speared in the shoulders does make it bleed copiously (if photos are anything to go by), which will in turn weaken the beast. I think we are in the realms of splitting hairs here.

Bull fighting ought to go the way of dog fighting. It is a ridiculous, cruel, wasteful 'sport'.

Here here. But then look at all the various "sports" man takes part in which humiliate undermine and torture animals. I believe that as the "top" animal on the planet we have an obligation and a duty to as far as possible protect and nutrure them.
