Yep, and that is the very reason the US will never invade Canada. They have no need of 33,000,000 more Democrats.

Pick fly sh!t from pepper all you want. The American people got rid off the Right and put in power the left.
That's awesome, Obama's far more rightwing then Harper. And I'm Canadian and we're discussing the Canadian political landscape. Stop trying to win the debate by moving the goal posts around.

They both messed up the economy.

Northern Ontario,
Since when Conservativisem got borders?

Why was Harper and Bush like a happy couple when they got together?
Why was Harper so happy in plagurising Howard's speach? because he loved Bush and his Ripublican ( Conservative) crap.

Sarah Palin on Religion, Science, Secularism, Church/State Separation - Does Sarah Palin Support Secular Government and Science?
2. Sarah Palin & Holy War, Religious Crusades

In a speech to high school kids at her church, Sarah Palin said: "Pray...that our leaders, our national leaders, are sending [our military men and women] out on a task that is from God. That's what we have to make sure that we are praying for, that there is a plan and that that plan is God's plan." Do we need leaders who believe they are following God's plan when invading other nations, especially Muslim nations? Some say that Palin was merely expressing hope that politicians are following God's will, but shouldn't they follow the will of the people? Either way, Sarah Palin is a politician expressing more interest in obeying what she thinks her god wants than in serving the interests and will of the people she represents.

Enjoy.........

The question....

The questioner was ABC News' Charles Gibson. Gibson asked her, "You said recently in your old church, 'Our national leaders are sending U.S. soldiers on a task that is from God.' Are we fighting a Holy War?"

The answer....

PolitiFact | Not far from Lincoln's sentiment

Enjoy

Quite so, and I think Obama has been fairly successful in cleaning up the Republican mess, all the signs point to a recovery. The last job report was particularly encouraging. Even with adverse weather influencing the economy negatively, job losses were much smaller than expected.

But people really won’t feel that we are in the recovery mode until the economy starts creating new jobs. Hopefully that day is not far into future now.

So yes, Obama has been fairly successful in cleaning up the gigantic Republican mess (or the mess created by Obama, Clinton and Carter, if one is to believe the conservatives here).

But he has paid high price for it, in the form of huge budget deficits. Now it remain to be seen if people give him time to get the deficits under control or if they elect conservatives, who will make the deficit problem even worse (as they have been doing for the past 30 years, whenever they have been in power in USA or in Canada).

I have to ask.

How is it Obama gets a pass on his deficit, while Harper gets a huge kick in the balls?

And I'll ask the same question of you, that I asked of Soc, how can you expect to be taken seriously when you are so extreme?

So....let me see.......Obama sits while the economy slowly recovers......and he drives the country into a massive debt situation.......and he sits at the right hand of God........

Harper sits while an economy that is healthier than the American one slowly recovers.........and he drives the country into a massive debt situation......and he is spawn of the devil........

Consistency is simply too much to expect.

Hey Canadian bear , because Harper and his losers when campaigning in 2004 they told Canadians to let us in Ottawa to clean the mess the Liberals have created, while the stupid fcks were receiving a surplus of 12 Billion dollars , and now the country is in a huge f financial hole.

Their cleaning up consists of prorogation of Parliament running like a bunch of f pansy’s from responsibility, stopping the country’s business so they can tell Canadians we are doing what Canadians asked us to do, while behind close doors ( we are not here to clean up like we said we will, but rather to fk things up and punish the opposition. )

Blander after blander, they tried all the cheating angels to get into office, from over spending on election budgets which is against the Canadian rules, and while in the past 4 years these chicken little minority losers fly first class to tell Canada we will have deficits after we are gone for the next 7- 8 years.
Give it up Canadian bear, ether contribute or you look stupid going on comparing Elephants with f pelicans.

Don’t forget these f rs when the flue pandemic started they offered your people body bags instead of medicine remember? Not immediate medical help, body bags because Human rights meanes nothing to them.
They are bigots, liars and cheats…..Not snow whites as they claimed they were back in 2004
So keep on compeering Elephants with pelicans, it looks good on you, plus I thought NDP was your brand, what happened? you jump ship?, and now you are onto a ship that is about to sink? And trust the writing on the wall they will sink.

Say what? The Canadian economy is what it is because of Liberal fiscal prudence not because of anything the Conservatives have done. The Conservatives have done f all to better Canadians standard of living. $300.000 a year for the top job in Canada and end up with $100 Billion onto the federal debt is a bad deal for Canadians.:p

lol I see a few people still can't follow a topic.
Anyway, our Conservatives are no more conservative than our Liberals. Both are fairly liberal socially (Liberals being a smidgeon more so) and neither are fiscally conservative.

I'm still waiting for Bob to explain how people like GWB, Hitler, Thatcher, Chiang Kai-Shek, and other authoritarians are left-wing (drums fingers on the desk). lol

Your dead wrong, Socrates- I'm neither Liberal or Conservative but I've done a lot better in 3 years under the Cons. than I did in 13 under the Liberals. They've literally saved me $thousands in income tax alone and unlike the Libs they have reduced the G.S.T.

Good day JLM , I am glad you are doing fine under the Harper Conservatives, realise one thing it would be very selfish of me to praise a Government who is giving me a carrot and puts my on bad math path.

7 - 8 years of deficits will make my carrots The Conservatives gave me look like a grain of sand on a dump truck full of sand.

So what are we talking about? Comparing your tax cuts with a 2 % reduction of the GST over 7 - 8 years bad RED INK IN THE TUNE OF $100B onto the federal dept where is the logic in that?.

JLM Sorry to you and many others on this thread, I want to apologize for my demeanour to opposite opinion, but I do see some bad things coming up that will affect all Canadians not just me.

I do apologize in the heat of the moment f this and f that but hay, I am not a violent guy nor do I wish hell on the Conservatives in Ottawa.

Conservative politicians are people with families too. THEY CROSS the floor and become Liberals or NDP or Independents’.

It is only the philosophy that I find hard to except. A famous saying is “ Politics make strange bed fellows” But please $100 Billion in 7-8 years a $500 tax cut and 2% on GST is something to WORRIED ABOUT.

I suppose I am Liberalphobic because of the Liberal habit of liberating public funds for Liberals' personal gain as well as the decidedly unliberal habit of Liberals to curtail the liberties of people without good reason.
But, I remain a moderate liberal.

You're saying that some Charter gives me freedom of speech? I'm saying I had that before Trudeau decided to carve his name on history. Several thousand Canadians paid for that right with their blood - while your draft-dodger was giving Canada the finger. Hell, if he'd been serious about the Charter, there wouldn't be a notwithstanding clause in it.

I'd be cautious, it is a good thing we have that notwithstanding clause lest we end up with judicial law, which we have a lot of anyway. The clause still allows our elected members to nix laws the judiciary enact.

Really? Then I guess Canada (or rather, Ontario and Québec) had the last laugh on the far right wing of the Conservative Party. Until Harper moved to the centre, toward where the old PC party was, Ontario and Québec didn’t vote for Conservative Party.

Well, yes, but I don't think anyone was laughing.

And the Conservative Party in power today is not really that much different form Mulroney’s PC Party. They won’t get my vote because I am not sure that this is its true color, and not something they adopted just to get elected.

Sadly I think they had to adapt to get votes. I'm not sure of their colour either, or if they are less progressive. I'm certainly not particularly happy with them, but in my mind's view, they beat the hell out of the Liberals.

I would have no problem voting for the PC Party. But we don’t know if this Conservative Party is only pretending to be the PC Party, and all the extremists may come out of the woodwork if they ever get the majority, implement all kind of extremist legislation and try to transform Canada into USA.

You may have a point, there is much legislation in the US that leans toward totalitarinaism, or anyother ism you want to imagine. On the other hand, the Liberals have made no such guarantee that they wouldn't do the same, they just try to make us feel better about it.

One of the hot issues of the day is jobs. We have screamed about loss of jobs (and with good reason, of course) and that the government should "do something about it." So out comes the stimulus money and it gets spent. And then we blame them for spending it.
What was it spent on? I didn't see any extra infrastructure work other than what was has already been on the slate for 10 years. Who is filling the potholes?

Quite so. I don’t think Harper is fully to blame for the current deficit. However, he definitely gets some of the blame.

When he came to office, we had a surplus of 10 billion $ plus. One of the first things Harper did was to declare tax cuts mostly benefiting the rich, and thereby squandered away all the surplus. Just before the meltdown, he had negligible surplus. So when the tsunami hit is, he had nowhere to go but to rack up the biggest deficit in Canadian history.

The only thing that could be said in his favor is that he did not imitate his idol, Bush and rack up a huge deficit to give the rich the tax cuts. He squandered the surplus, but he did not go into deficit that came later.

If he had continued with the prudent economic management of Liberals, the deficit today would have been much lower. So Harper definitely gets part of the blame for the deficit.

The difference between Harper and Obama is that Obama inherited more than 500 billion $ deficit, while Harper inherited more than 10 billion $ surplus (which he promptly frittered away).
