Hey Risus (we may have different opinion about hockey) but you are dead on here. I've been through it all for almost 30 years. One thing that really put me off about most radical Union people is they have ZERO tolerance for other opinions.

One of the companies I used to work for was family owned. We had an annual golf tournament , ski day (on week days, all paid for by the company), a recroom with pool table, shuffle board. TV, set of weights etc., had barbecues, and picnics for the worker's children and so on. The company ended up being sold to a company with a union. The union moved into the facility I was at, thought the company was bribing the workers with the events I listed above. Fine, management did away with them all. The workers squawked, management blamed the union (correctly), the workers tried to get rid of the union, without success. Production fell, the company ended up going backrupt. Yeah, the union really helped out the workers there...
