Quoting Risus and you are proud of that? Disgusting.

Risus in most parts of this country hunting is legal whether you like it or not.. There are a few hundred thousand hunters in Canada.
I'm not a hunter myself anymore because I don't feel like carrying game out of the bush even if I was capable. The story I told about the wolves earlier was over sixty years old and at the time I was about ten years old..

If you followed the thread you would know that I was refering to our resident gunslinger killing the animal just for the sake of killing it, not for food... I have nothing against hunters who kill for food.

That's my sentiment, I grew up eating a fair amount of venison and later moose meat.

That's OK as a last resort, but they should be relocated if it's feasible.

Often the last resort is the only available option; I've managed to scare off coyotes and wolves, had a couple of stare downs with bears, (I was armed, poised and ready in all those encounters, even though I wasn't hunting, or hunting them) but have only shot 3 or 4 wild dogs that left no option, and that decision has to be made right smartly because these critters can close the gap before you can say "oh crap!".

And yes, I've had a Mexican standoff with a bear, and no, I didn't shoot him.

What? You didn't blast it into the great berry farm in the sky with your , Colpy? WOW! It looks like Risus has you pegged wrong.

We kill for food. We've also killed to feed the dogs. A nuisance bear to be exact. We aren't terribly crazy about eating bear but we will eat it, but this particular bear had worms in its liver, and generally didn't seem to be in great health. The dogs got some and the local critters got some. So far in the time we've been here, we've had 3 nuisance bears. That's a little more than one per decade. Countless birds, members of the weasel family, deer family, and canine family live here along with us and everyone seems content to not bother anyone else except for food.
It's funny that some people think it's perfectly ok to wander about in some critter's domain yet when the critter wanders into these people's "territory", "something has to be done". I think it's stupid not to expect the occasional impromptu meeting of people and critter.

I agree. And the critter's domain is getting smaller almost daily.

I guess it's always been the unspoken law that (right or wrong) human rights take precedence over the rights of other animals. Perhaps there is an "in house expert" who would expound on this.
