It's strange that an earthquake in Haiti can bring so much anti-Americanism. It can only come from Canadians, who resent having a much larger, more powerful and more successful neighbour.

Admittedly the U.S. is much larger in wealth and population, but I would question that they are more successful. The U.S. had a much larger starting population, a more friendly climate, and another hundred years. Canada does very well with what she has.

Dont forget the accents, and then there's also the ones who will invest in Canada when our guys invest overseas, creating thousands of jobs and tax bucks into our coffers.
Anyone with mutual funds is making bucks thanks to American dollars and investors.;-)

Just so you know, I disagree with about 99.9% of what Jbee posts but he can have that opinion. If you don't like it either ignore him or respond to the topic at hand.

I'm still scratching my head as to why those two would be on an aid campaign poster for Haiti.
Some woman who was a big honcho for the Red Cross in Calif. spent $150,000 of $175,000 that was meant for some aid project, (something like that). It wouldn't have improved any, the workers in the field are still dedicated 'rescuers, etc'

Yeah, So? What if she worked for UNICEF? Or CCF? Would that mean she wouldn't be doing the same? Do you blame the sins of the father on the kid, too?

I just heard that Enron was firing up again, best to go get some stock before the prices rise. (which I hear it will 3 min before the closing bell today).

Nothing ...... in the short-term. In the long term lots of people buying lots of stock would allow Enron to develop the natural resources paying dividends to the stockholder who would then use that money to fly down to Haiti where prices are dirt cheap thanks to suppression of any real economic gain. Without all that work from Enron (and like companies) who would be there to bring you your drinks?

Now with Haiti in control of the resources your trip there would be free (30 days max) if you agree to bring your generous host drinks. "More Arctic Rums, Sirs?"

wow You do like to go on tangents, don't you?
So Enron is the only one that Haitians would eventually benefit from? People should drop what they have and invest in Enron?

lol I hope not, how about just doing a little research on your choice of who to donate cash to. Just because it was an honerable charity in the past does not mean it will be honorable today and far into the future. The SalleyAnn is good but it may take some time for discarded products (old eye-glasses and such) to get there.

Why not assume stuff about someone else?
We didn't give anything to the Red Cross. It was simply the name of a charity I thought of at the moment before I posted and seemed like a better candidate than two old ex=presidents.
