Why does Socialism suck? Here’s just a few reasons…

  1. It’s a system of authoritarian political control
  2. It’s anti-freedom
  3. It’s one step away from communism
  4. You own NOTHING while the government owns EVERYTHING
  5. It lets the government tell me what I can and can’t do with my money
  6. Destroys free markets
  7. It’s detrimental to individual liberty
  8. Does not reward hard working individuals
  9. Does not define man as “created equally” but instead “deserves everything equally”
  10. Gives the common man no reason to excel, thrive, succeed at anything.
  11. Nazi Germany/Stalin/Ottoman Empire/China/North Korea/Cuba..need I say more?

I was wondering the other day about what motivates people to invent, succeed, strive for a better life when in the end we just become worm food. Why do we spend most of our lives working at mindless jobs so we can spend our money on useless crap like TVs, cellphones and Playstations? If we only have one life to live, why are we wasting it on trivial pursuits?

If you believe in god, do you really think it cares what you did for a living or what you accomplished? And if you don't believe in a god, why be a slave to a system that couldn't care less if you live or die? Does anybody really stop and think what is really important to them? Do they actually spend more time doing what makes them happy than working to acquire what they really need to survive?

To modify John Kenneth Galbraith's comment: "In socialism, man exploits man. In capitalism, it's the opposite."

"You are born and you die, Everything else in between is just entertainment" - my friend Ruben. My mind sometimes goes off on these tangents but basically what I see in our society just doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me so a long time ago I decided it was all a Monty Python movie and that I was just going to enjoy the show from that perspective. It helps me get out of bed in the morning.

The basic flaw of socialism is that sooner or later you run out of other people's money.
YJ Why did you run from one socialist country to another then bitch about how low your socialist pension is?

You can pay it back anytime if you don't like it.

petros, the most revealing characteristic of a loser is forgetting/ingoring to debate the point and going personal.

The reason I left I left a socialist country, at the age of 17 - a courageous decision, kind of which you probably never had to make - was exactly so that I can complain about anything I want. Those who tried that in the country I left, ended up in the Gulag.

My pension is not socialist. I could live quite comfortably on the pension I EARNED by almost 40 years of service with the same company. I could not care less about the pittance the government throws my way each month, whether I want it or not.

Pay back anything the government pays? Are you kidding?

Based on your avatar, (not to mention your immature posts) you have a whole lot of growing up to do. Right side up might help.

Of course not. Why would I want to leave Canada?

You got something against baby Jesus?

Earned where? In a socialist country that shored up that pension with public funds?

Wakey, wakey hands off snakey. Reality awaits you anytime you are ready to accept it.

You could care less about the socialist pittance you receive? That must be why you still cash it. If you couldn't care less, you wouldn't cash it.

Socialist hypocrite!

That's the American version of the expression, 'I could care less', the Canadian version is 'I couldn't care less'.

Not speaking figuratively, "I could care less" means that you could care the most.

You say potato, I say patato.

When I say potato it sounds more like padAda. It's a Boston thing.
I used to watch reruns of MASH. That C.E.Winchester the 3rd was a real hoot and I loved the way he spoke.
