You know, a bull moose deserves a lot of credit as well. A big bull can get himself and his six foot spread of antlers through the thickest bush without making a sound. A big bull moose can cantor as fast as most horses can gallup. The following is a Robert Bateman painting of a bull moose in season:

One of my favorites: the Bald Eagle.

While working at Bull Arm, NL we spotted a nest of bald eagles near the shore. We would watch them hunt during the day. One of my co-workers told me one day he watched a seal tossing a fish in the air and catching it on it's nose. Seals do that for fun. Anyway, as the seal was tossing this fish along comes the eagle and snatches it right out of mid-air and flew off to the nest to feed the younguns. The seal went WTF!

"A little "Deep Woods OFF" keeps them away....."

Oh, yeah?! The black flies I encountered ate Deep Woods OFF for dessert, after they took a quarter pounder's worth of my flesh.

And it was all done UNDER my clothes. Another's bite closed my eye for a week.

I would pick the Arctic wolf as I had one befriend me a couple years ago working up there and the next year he showed up on my ice road again, following me around and eating the wooden stakes we set in the snow for markers.
The wolverines were also pretty cool and would put the run on the polars if they wanted a chunk of their kill.I have added quite a few pics in my photo section here from my time near the arctic circle if anyones interested.

That's like asking what is your favorite tune. I have several in several different genres. Snowy owls and golden eagles are my fave birds, otters and griz are probably my fave four-footed critters, I have a few favorite reptiles (corn snakes, bull snakes, blue racers, turtles), Western red-backed salamanders are fave amphib, fave multilegged critters are wolf spiders, dragonflies, and damselflies, fave fish is brook trout.

Raccoon. For weeks there has been a raccoon rummaging our flower garden every night. Cannot get rid of it. So, now I just watch in amazement as it walks around the yard climbing the fence, trees, staircase etc. The other night, it brought four members of its family, all babies being taught the survival of rummaging my garden . I just watched in amazement at their beauty. One of the babies looked up at me with its bandit perplexing eyes, and then ran towards its caregiver. Just awesome.

the coolest Canadian animal is the coot.

Admittedly, when they get old and crotchety they remind me of several posters on these forums.

Hey Spade! Good to see you again!

Yes the coot is pretty cool! I recently updated my Field Guide to North American Birds. Are you an avid bird watcher as well?

You think the Black Fly is cool?

A little "Deep Woods OFF" keeps them away.....;-)

Yep when it comes to the deep woods, you can't beat Off. 8O

Of all the creatures that trod our great white north, none compare with the Great North American Snow Pig.

Cute, yet hungry. Farty, yet diabolically cuddly.
Clearly the first choice of a proud and free country.

That "Snow Pig" looks an awful lot like a Bull Terrier...;-)
