Twila,

I think it may have died down (not out) in the 1980's because this was when women started to HAVE to go to work to help support their families. You don't rock the boat that has the hand that holds the pay cheque. You have to know when to push and when to back up a bit. But women still had to be careful about going to the cops, about going through courts, careful not to be left bereft of child support should the man leave. Women, even in the 1980's had some issues to deal with.

The Goddess movement was very spiritualistic & its growth was enabled and possibly stimulated in some part by the more liberal political climate of that time. The emergence of political conservatism especially as it was influenced by religious orthodoxy and the materialistic "greed generation" made such spiritualism less palatable to many. It's very ironic in that Jesus condemned materialism, yet the politically orthodox right wingers who claim to worship him are so materialistic. They sure did a very thorough job of negating the Goddess movement. And let's not forget that there are a lot of conservative women who applaud the patriarchal Abrahamic religions as you mentioned earlier. It will be interesting to see whether Goddessism (if such a term exists) will ever re-emerge.

The God within you of course , God is not an external it is the binding to.

I cannot argue with what is basically my Gnostic Christian view.

Basic Beliefs of a True Gnostic

Their are various brands of Gnostic Christians popping up but that link shows that we know that man is the supreme creature on earth and the only Gods we shall ever know.

Strange how religionists began to call our higher minds God when they foolishly started to read myths literally.

How do the men suffer under such a system? (this is a geniune question, no sarcasm intended, meant or implied)

As a system, Twila, organized religion is not personal or spiritual, but congregational. As such, it substitutes for personal faith and a genuine encounter with God, regardless of gender.

God is light. All the near eastern myth is at root of the same origin.

My forefathers had many gods. As do many religions. Who's to know which is right? Are any of them?To date no one has brought their "one true god" to my place to prove their point despite an open invitation.

Does that open invitation include an open mind, TS?

The World
Women. Religion’s longest running victims.

Here we are in civilized and enlightened societies and cultures in high tech times and we are not smart enough to recognize that the world will continue in strife as long as we men do not give women full equality as a minimum to what men should do towards the care of families.

I hope you are astute enough to see this. If you do nothing then you know not what duty to your family should be. The women in your family deserve to be first class citizens.

I hate to tell you, but women have run this world for a very long time.

No argument and Christian churches would agree if the ever taught what Jesus did.

Matthew 6:22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.

John 14:23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

Luke 17:21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

Romans 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

There is no money in the truth so you can bet that the church will not tell the truth.

Anyone who can worship a trinity and insist that his religion is a monotheism can believe anything... just give him time to rationalize it.

Why have they made themselves second class citizens?

Or do you think they are the ones making sure they only earn about 70% of what men earn for the same work?

How is that women working for their best possible end as we are all programmed ny nature to do?

Can I come to your world? Cause on my world it is not the case and has not been the case...

You would not like his world. It is pure delusion. If he was being serious, which is doubtful.

Hirsi Ali, in her bestselling books Infidel and Nomad, made no secret of the fact that Islam, as interpreted by militants, extremists, and even (in some cases) casual believers, was not only untrue but harmful to the world. Between female genital mutilation, honor killings, the idea of martyrdom, and the murder of her friend Theo van Gogh, you could understand why she would courageously put her own life on the line to speak out against the horrors of the faith. In her mind, the problem wasn’t radical Islam. It was Islam, period. That’s why she was very blunt in a 2007 interview about her goal of trying to defeat Islam because she didn’t believe the “religion of peace” was capable of being saved in its current form.

Almost immediately after the announcement of her honorary degree, Muslim groups began to protest her selection.

A petition at Change.org started by a Muslim student asked:

How can an Administration of a University that prides itself on social justice and acceptance of all make a decision that targets and disrespects it’s own students? This is hurtful to the Muslim students and the Brandeis community who stand for social justice.

One religion has effects on other religions. Islam for instance would not need be radical if Christianity was not.

One tribe will be effected by it's neighbor. If the neighbor can beat his wife then so can the theist from the other tribe eventually.

Religious thinking is to fight fire with fire.

Not do as scriptures say and return evil with good. No one turns the other cheek.

yup, women have it so hard here in North America. Really sucks to be them. I guess they really are the weaker sex, contrary to what the feminists insist, because if they didn't need protection, if they weren't the "weaker sex", then what's with all this bullshyte?
