No, an army of liberal arts college grads haven’t invaded France.

But like the last time the country was invaded, a politician wants to torpedo freedom of speech.

Paris’s deputy mayor has triggered outrage by demanding that white people be banned from discussing racism.

People hold a placard reading “Racism is a way of delegating to someone else its own self-disgust” as they demonstrate in Nantes, on June 8, 2020, during a ‘Black Lives Matter’ worldwide protests against racism and police brutality in the wake of the death of George Floyd, an unarmed Black man killed while apprehended by police in Minneapolis.

No, really.

Left-wing Deputy Mayor Audrey Pulvar, 49, has clear views on the topic.

“(White people should) be asked to keep quiet and be silent spectators during discussions around racism attended by Black and ethnic minority people,” Pulvar said.

She added: “People who suffer discrimination for the same reasons and in the same way feel the need to meet among themselves to discuss it.”

The mayor’s comments come on the heels of France wrestling with the emergence of American woke culture in the home of Voltaire.

Various academics said last month the country was being “contaminated” by the American left’s obsession with race, gender and post-colonialism.

Even former socialist prime minister Manuel Valls called Pulvar’s comments a betrayal of French values, The Times of London reports.

“This rhetoric, always justifying the victim, leads to disaster … Do you have to be Jewish to talk about anti-Semitism?” Valls said on Europe 1 Radio.

The emergence of American “woke culture” threatens the very fabric of the country, Valls added.

In a book published in February, social scientists Stephane Beaud and Gerard Noiriel argued that race is a “bulldozer” that destroys all other subjects.

And because France has a secular government, the authors don’t believe race should be studied as a subject in the academy.

And now, it’s SpongeBob’s turn in the woke penalty box.

Nickelodeon said they were pulling the plug on an upcoming episode of SpongeBob SquarePants because of what the New York Post called a “virus storyline.”

The network soiled themselves fearing the episode, entitled The Kwarantined Crab, could trigger viewers’ sensitivities, particularly those affected by the deadly COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the Post, in the episode, a Bikini Bottom health inspector identifies a case of the Clam Flu at the Krusty Krab diner. The inspector then chooses to quarantine customers inside the restaurant.

An earlier episode called Mid-Life Crustacean lost 11 minutes. The Post said the snip job was likely due to a scene where SpongeBob, Mr. Krab and Patrick plan a “panty raid” with Mr. Krab’s mom being the victim.

Meanwhile, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez — aka AOC — has now taken notice of the crisis on the border with Mexico.

But the woke wonk is accusing anyone of using the word “surge” to describe the immigrant flood on the southern frontier of celebrating a “white supremacist” philosophy.

In an Instagram Live ask-me-anything session, the young stream-of-consciousness politico was asked why she hadn’t addressed the border crisis.

After all, during the Trump years, AOC was obsessed with the issue. She described the migrant detention centres as “concentration camps.”

Now? Silence. And when she was called out, the former bartender from the Bronx exploded.

She was asked why she isn’t “addressing the border crisis and the kids in cages like you used to. Are you for real?”

But ho, ho, ho. AOC reached into her big social justice basket and fired back faster than you can say Toronto Star op-ed.

“It’s not a border crisis. It’s an Imperialism crisis, it’s a climate crisis, it’s a trade crisis. And also it’s a carceral crisis,” she said, avoiding the uncomfortable kids in cages bit.

She continued… on and on and on.

“But people don’t want to have that conversation. They want to say, ‘But what about the surge?’” AOC said.

“Well, first of all, just — gut check. Stop. Anyone who’s using the term ‘surge’ around you, consciously, is trying to invoke a militaristic frame.”

She added: “And that’s a problem, because this is not a surge. These are children, and they are not insurgents, and we are not being invaded.”

And then, the home run.

“Which, by the way, is a white supremacist philosophy.”

WOKE WATCH: University backtracks, says whites welcome in 'identity' dorms
And America's first Black president has fallen afoul of the mob

Who? Us?

A Nevada university is now denying claims it designated “identity-based” dorm rooms that were deemed off limits to whites.

Reason? “For the safety of student participants.”

The Young America’s Foundation claimed on Wednesday that the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) doesn’t allow white students to live with African-American, Native American, and Latino classmates at a campus dorm.

But according to the Daily Mail, UNR said the report was wrong and that the official in charge of the dorms “misspoke.”

The Great Basin Hall dorm has a “living learning communities” philosophy.

Four of the LLC are distinctly identity-based — Black; Indigenous; gender, sexuality and identity; and ‘Latinx.’

When a reporter asked to get a better understanding on the identity-based dorms, she was told white students were not allowed to register.

“In the identity-based communities, for the safety of student participants, it is important only students who hold that identity are considered,” Dean Kennedy, who heads UNR’s Office of Residential Life, Housing, and Food Services, stated.

Meanwhile, America’s first Black president has fallen afoul of the mob.

An Illinois school board is considering changing the names of two of it schools, Thomas Jefferson Middle School and Daniel Webster Middle School. Jefferson owned slaves and Webster supported the slave trade.

So far, so good. One of the names put forward to replace Jefferson is former president Barack Obama, the nation’s first Black leader.

But oh, oh … Waukegan’s large Latin community isn’t happy.

“I will not be part of renaming a school after someone who did not and does not represent the undocumented community,” said school board member Edgar Castellanos.

Activist Julie Contreras is affiliated with a group that runs shelters for undocumented children on the U.S.-Mexico border.

“From the time Barack Obama became president until 2017 when he left, he today is still the highest ranking president with deportations in our nation,” Contreras said. “We feel that Barack Obama did disservice to us. He denied us, and he didn’t stop the deportations, the way he promised.”

“If you’re removing the name of Thomas Jefferson — one oppressor — the name of Obama is another oppressor and our families do not want to see that name,” she added.

School board president Brandon Ewing sheepishly said: “I personally don’t object to the name, but I have to be aware of the concerns.”

Barbara Kay: Birth of a new resistance: Parents mobilize to tackle woke ideology

For classic liberals who consider woke ideology the most disturbing threat to democracy in their lifetime, FAIR's board of advisers is a dream team

Riverdale Country School is one of New York City’s — and therefore America’s — most elite private schools. Last June the school administration sent a memo to parents alerting them to curriculum changes that would reflect “the responsibility to use our privilege to fight for change.”

At the first assembly in September, instead of the school’s traditional pledge of allegiance and singing of “America the Beautiful,” students were shown a video in which the school mascot told students aged five to 11 to “check each other’s words and actions.” Families were encouraged to join school-organized “affinity” groups to bond with people of the same colour or ethnicity. One group is called POC for “parents of color.”

None of this sat well with Riverdale parent Bion Bartning, half Mexican and Yaqui (an Indigenous tribe native to the Mexican border region) and half Jewish, who defines himself as a “typical American.” Bartning’s wife is a refugee from the former Soviet Union where, as a child, her “group identity” was stamped in her passport, and children were encouraged to snitch on others, including family members, who expressed incorrect thoughts: exactly what her family came to America to escape.

This background is provided in Bartning’s recent Wall Street Journal op-ed, titled “Dividing by Race Comes to Grade School.” Probing the curriculum changes, the Bartnings found that Riverdale’s “racial literacy” guide teaches identity is coincident with skin colour, marginalizing people who “don’t place race at the heart of their identity.” When the couple voiced their objections, the school head wrote to them: “I wonder if this might be a good moment to think whether or not this is the best place for you and your family.”

Bartning’s op-ed will echo the alarm of many typical liberals who regard themselves as mugged by critical race theory. They knew cynical theories ruled on campus, but didn’t think they would survive contact with the “real world.” Today, though, masquerading as “antiracism,” this neo-racist belief system has gone viral throughout pedagogical networks. The San Diego Unified School District, for example, told teachers in a training session that they “spirit murder” Black children and should undergo “racist therapy.”

Bartning was aware that other parents had the same concerns, but weren’t prepared to act on them. As other commentators have noted, private schools like Riverdale are a conduit to Ivy League universities, and this is the mindset Harvard et al demand in their incoming student body. So Bartning grasped the nettle and founded a new resistance organization: the Foundation Against Intolerance and Racism (FAIR). It’s only two months old, but it could be the vaccine frustrated parents long for.

First, check out FAIR’s board of advisers. Since I can’t name all 31 of them, I won’t name any. Suffice to say, for classic liberals who consider woke ideology and its social fallout the most disturbing threat to democracy in their lifetime, this diverse dream team (about a third are ethnic/racial minorities) of brilliant public intellectuals, scientists, writers, entrepreneurs and experts in education may bring tears to their eyes.

FAIR’s declaration of beliefs and goals is a balm to the liberal soul. Amongst other pledges: to “defend civil liberties and rights guaranteed to each individual, including freedom of speech and expression, equal protection under the law, and the right to personal privacy.” Amongst other beliefs: “bad ideas are best confronted with good ideas — and never with dehumanization, deplatforming or blacklisting.” Further, that “objective truth exists” and “scientific research must be untainted by any political agenda.”

FAIR will link parents who feel isolated and afraid to speak up with each other to form empowered chapters. They will offer rhetorical tools to push back effectively, breaking down critical race theory in simple terms laypeople can understand. If you’re running a corporation they will give you a better, more classically liberal “Diversity and Inclusion” anti-racism program to offer your employees.

They are also getting into the lawfare game. FAIR has a superb legal network, with many supportive lawyers eager to represent pro bono, parents whose children are being discriminated against on the basis of skin colour, in the hope that one of them will end up at the Supreme Court.

Perhaps it will be this one. A Black Nevada mother filed a civil rights suit against her biracial son’s charter school for refusing to permit him to opt out of a mandatory “Sociology of Change” class, based in Critical Race Theory and Intersectionality, that promotes hostility to whites through compelled “identity confession assignments” (the son is so light-skinned he is “the only apparent white boy in his class”). It alleges several constitutional violations, invasion of privacy, and “intentional and retaliatory discrimination on the basis of color, race and religion.”

In a healthy democracy, an organization like FAIR would not be necessary. That it is not only necessary, but urgently so, is a sad commentary on our era. Please, FAIR, when you have a chance, do consider a “FAIR Canada” franchise. We have brilliant dissidents here who would be value added to your illustrious board of advisers.

RICHARD LITTLEJOHN: Surely in our sophisticated information age, no one could be tricked by obvious stunts... yet we are taken for April Fools every day

By RICHARD LITTLEJOHN FOR THE DAILY MAIL
2 April 2021

We've come a long way since the Spaghetti Harvest spoof. On April 1, 1957, the BBC's Panorama programme broadcast a report which claimed pasta grew on trees.

It is widely considered to be the best April Fool's stunt of all time. Complete with an authoritative voiceover from the respected journalist Richard Dimbleby, this elaborate hoax managed to fool millions of viewers.

The three-minute film, which cost £100 to make, featured Italian farmers picking spaghetti and laying it out in the sun to dry.

1617552446401.png
Young people may be bombarded with 'facts' on social media, but that doesn't mean they're any better informed than their grandparents. Why wouldn't they believe the orchards of Umbria are groaning with fusilli and linguine?

The following day the BBC's switchboard was inundated with calls from people wanting to know where they could buy spaghetti trees to plant in their gardens.

To be fair to all those who fell for it, 64 years ago pasta was still a rare and exotic food in post-war Britain. They could be forgiven their credulity.

Surely in our sophisticated information age, no one could be taken in by a similar stunt. Don't bank on it.

We live in a world of fake news, in which everyone is now allowed to have their own 'truth'.

If Meghan 'Thee Stallion' Markle announced on the Oprah Winfrey show that spaghetti grows on trees, who would dare contradict her? They'd be denounced as 'racists', cancelled and cast into the outer darkness.

Young people may be bombarded with 'facts' on social media, but that doesn't mean they're any better informed than their grandparents.

Why wouldn't they believe the orchards of Umbria are groaning with fusilli and linguine? After all, survey after survey shows that a terrifying number of schoolchildren have absolutely no idea about the origin of their food.

1617552476853.png

They don't realise bacon comes from pigs, milk comes from cows, or eggs come from chickens.

It's not their fault. Schools are too busy filling their heads with racism, sexism, slavery, 'transphobia', climate change and colonialism to bother teaching them the basics.

That's how you end up this week with the crazy scenes at a school in Pimlico, London, where the headmaster has caved in to pupils' demands to take down the Union flag and review a curriculum based on 'white kings and queens'.

You couldn't make it up.

Then again, you couldn't make up most of the proselytising and propaganda which passes for 'news' these days, especially on TV. In post-truth Britain, it's virtually impossible to tell fact from fiction.

The plain fact is we're living with April Fool's madness every day of the week, from multi-millionaire professional footballers 'taking the knee' in empty stadiums to coppers skateboarding with Extinction Rebellion protesters.

So why shouldn't we take everything we read as gospel? One newspaper claimed yesterday that a statue of the Prime Minister's former adviser Dominic Cummings is to be erected in Barnard Castle, his Covid Waterloo.

Far-fetched? But then again, the University of Winchester has just spent £24,000 on a statute of Greta Thunberg. Yes, really.

As David Brent from The Office would say: FACT!

The Mail reported that Birkenhead Council, to encourage walking and cycling, has painted a mesmerising kaleidoscope pattern on a road junction — described by motorists as an accident waiting to happen.

Could be a spoof. But perhaps not, when you remember that councils across Britain have turned half the roads in the country into crazy golf courses, to the dismay of everyone from local residents and bus drivers to the emergency services.

In North Wales, horny billy goats have invaded the streets of Llandudno in search of mates.

1617552499722.png
The plain fact is we're living with April Fool's madness every day of the week, from multi-millionaire professional footballers 'taking the knee' in empty stadiums (above; England vs Poland at Wembley on Wednesday night) to coppers skateboarding with Extinction Rebellion protesters

Apparently, there's been a surge in goat numbers because Covid restrictions have meant vets are unable to give the animals their annual contraceptive injections. Your guess is as good as mine. Another report claimed that the Loch Ness Monster has been sighted in Yorkshire. And why not?

After all, a giant walrus has been swanning round the Welsh coast for the past few days and has just taken up residence on a lifeboat station slipway at Tenby.

For the sake of the walrus, we can only hope the woman lawyer who let her dog savage a seal on the banks of the Thames recently isn't planning a walking holiday in Pembrokeshire any time soon.

We may not be able to fly anywhere right now, but it's good to know that airport security is thinking ahead. Scientists at Porton Down are working on plans to launch Spider-Man-style nets to bring down terrorist drones aimed at passenger aircraft.

True or false? Not a clue.

Does it matter? Expect Richard Branson to turn up at Heathrow in a Spider-Man suit any day now.

Elsewhere on April Fool's Day, in keeping with the spirit of the age, it was reported that Bowls England, the governing body of crown green bowling, is to revise its rules to allow a trans woman to compete in female events.

The change of heart comes after Stella Moore, 67, who has lived as a woman for three years, was turned away by the Portsmouth and District Women's Bowling Association.

That one's 100 per cent kosher.

So is the story about a soldier who joined the Royal Artillery in 1980 and is now suing the Ministry of Defence for £50,000 compensation claiming his hearing has been damaged irreparably.

Presumably, he didn't realise artillery makes a hell of a racket. But no doubt in future, in the interests of elf'n'safety, the Army will have to order squaddies to shout 'Bang, Two, Three' instead.

April Fool's Day passed its sell-by date when giant corporations started trying to get in on the act. I can't be bothered to list all the pathetic PR stunts this year posing as 'fun'. But it is fun when they backfire.

Volkswagen, which suffered serious reputational damage when it was found fiddling diesel emissions figures, tried to make up lost ground by putting out a press release claiming it is rebranding as 'Voltswagen' to promote its new range of electric cars.

Some gullible business reporters fell for the hoax, and reported it as fact.

VW has since been forced to apologise and the firm's share price slumped on the U.S. stock market. Is it too much to hope that one day we'll get an apology from our own Government for wrecking the economy and unleashing a daily tidal wave of Covid-inspired madness?

If I'd have told you last April that the entire country would be put under house arrest for the best part of a year because of a Chinese virus which kills only 0.5 per cent of those it infects — average age 82 — you wouldn't have believed me.

If I had predicted it would become a crime to travel abroad, hug your granny or drink a cup of coffee in the open air — or that police would be measuring pizza slices to see if they constituted a 'substantial meal' — you'd have thought I'd taken leave of my senses.

Yet sixty-odd years after the Spaghetti Harvest, millions of us were panicked by our Government into buying pasta in bulk.

Some people obviously still think it does grow on trees.

Breaking news: Europeans colonised Africa

SPIKED

6th April 2021

Spiked

Ex-Labour MP Claudia Webbe has revealed a shocking fact: Western countries once colonised Africa.

Sharing a map showing how Africa was carved up by European powers in the 19th century, Webbe tweeted, ‘This map has been hidden from you all your life’.

But as many Twitter users pointed out, most of us have seen this kind of map before. Who on earth is not aware that European countries colonised Africa? Or that Europeans were responsible for carving up the map?

Yet Webbe didn’t only claim that this history is unknown — she also implied there has been a conscious conspiracy to keep it that way.

‘Anti-racist’ activists regularly claim that the horrors of imperialism are (intentionally) ignored in schools. But it simply isn’t true. The history of British imperialism is actually part of the national curriculum. Anyone who paid attention in history classes will know that Britain, like many other European countries, had an empire.

Only an ex-Labour MP could be so clueless as to think this is news.

One would think that when you studied the Boer war in all commonwealth countries you would clue in to the fact
