karrie; My son gets his hair cut by a female barber. BUT... for $12 said:
When I lived in Grand Forks I got my hair cut in a barber shop, by a woman for about $12. I patronized her because she was the only barber in town who would follow instructions. I don't get hair cuts too often but when I do I want it short, like shaved up the back and sides, so I don't look like I need a haircut in a month.

My dad is a barber and used to cut my hair. As I grew into a teenager, I wanted my hair long. Eventually, he decided I should go to a regular hair stylist. Whenever I went to the so-called "hair stylist" for a "trim" I was always unhappy with the result because they would always cut of substantially more than I wanted. Eventually, I ended up going to a barber because he always cut exactly the amount I wanted. It was rather uncomfortable because I was the only female in there but I got what I wanted. Seems the hair stylists didn't like my beautiful locks as much as I did.

Only white males are discriminated against in Canada. Aside from that why would she want to go to a barber shop?
Why do we have race based fisheries? Or quotas for federal jobs where your ethnic background is more important than merit to get a job.

I wouldn't say Single White middle age men( fathers), and Young Black Male Teens are discriminated against ...I would say It would seem that everyone else simply has more rights...and the WHOLE family Unit is suffering for it ..

I know ..If we get rid of all the Single middle age men, and Male Black teens ..All the problems would be solved ..Right?

I guess you could call that ...Systematic Discrimination ....And it is a real problem growing in Canada..All things being equal ..

Just for the record....I don't care who cuts my hair as long as it's cheap/inexpensive

Your remarks, "I wouldn't say Single White middle age men( fathers), and Young Black Male Teens are discriminated against ...I would say It would seem that everyone else simply has more rights...and the WHOLE family Unit is suffering for it ..'
OK, then who does that leave, and why is the WHOLE family suffering for it? That is a very powerful statement but you've been very coy about it, and have given nothing as to why you believe it - or who you believe is the real 'culprit'.
And me? the 'non-gay' woman with a husband , 2 kids and an extreme short haircut'? That young woman was like me. I can't get a decent short hair cut in a woman's salon. I'd love to be as assertive as sh was, and walk into a men's barber shop, but I'm afraid I'd receive the same reception. Hell ... all I want is a good hair cut. Because you know something? It might be a hair style that is traditionally male, but on me? it'll look feminine and why? Because I'm a woman.and good grief -it's just hair!

Aha! So you are telling me that once again we have yet another thread in which right wingers make an assertion but that they fail to produce any evidence to back it up. Well, as usual, no surprise.

Expect a few more such threads before the year is out.

I don't give a rat's ass as to right or left wing - all I ever cared about was that this woman wanted a decent haircut. I have very short hair and I can NEVER found a women's saion that can cut my hair for less than - well let's just say MANY dollars ... and i feel her pain ....:-(

$35 is the cheapest I've seen for a woman's cut a salon that's not a 'Great Clips' etc. But, outside of the barber shop, men's cuts are getting just as bad as men get pickier and fancier with their hair.

My sis and her hubby are stylists. I asked why one is more than the other and it's that womens styles usually use lots of salon products like gels and sprays.

It's like getting nailed 10% for shop supplies by Canuck Tire.

I know - when I get my hair cut they always ask me if I want product in my hair. I always tell them that my hair is 'taking a break' from product. Hell! i have my hair cut SHORT! I like it 'messy - not spikey , nothing bizarre, just short.
So, because i haven't got a penis, I'm supposed to pay more money. Why? The hair being cut is on my head and the last I checked - men's and women's heads aren't that dissimilar. honestly! Does my hair cut look masculine? No? and why not? Because I look like a woman! It's freakin' hair, the texture is the same, the only difference is the cut. And by the way i look FABulous with it. It make s my eyes look even bigger, and because i have fabulous ears that are like shells and lie close to my head, I can ear wonderfully big earrings. my 'masculine ' haircut - like I said - it's hair, and it's cut. It's me - that makes it masculine or feminine.

You hit the nail on the head. A nice crisp 'sassy' style can really accent the eyes which in my belief is what really makes a woman attractive.

I was under the impression that hair is the frame for the face, to a point. It's a personal choice, though. I think the woman was weird for wanting a man's haircut, and the barbershop was weird for refusing her business. But then maybe they thought they couldn't do her any justice by cutting her hair and didn't want her babbling all over town that they ruined her hair.

BTW, Karrie, nice comment about guys going to a OBGYN for erectile dysfunction. lmao

More to the point - predictably, the forum right wingers didn't prove their contention that the majority is the victim of discrimination. No surprise. ;)
