Why are many Christians so intolerant of other religions and spiritual paths?

To me, the bible is of no use, is meaningless. That others find meaning does not affect my faith one bit. But I find those who publicly pronounce that their beliefs are the only true beliefs and that all others are false, are being bigoted about other people's beliefs and slandering them. It has no effect on me, but it does some others, and that is what I find offensive. Everybody has a right to believe whatever they want and denouncing another's beliefs goes against what the denouncer claims to believe.

Oh got it.

So please continue ripping into Christianity. We wouldn't want to bust your groove WHITE man.

They found it more than puzzling... some came out and wanted her to answer for it. She put it on her application to Harvard and Harvard for years counted her as a Native American Faculty Member.

Of course there was absolutely no evidence of her having any Native American ancestry... just family lore.

She used Native Americans and when Native Americans came looking for an explanation she ignored them. And the Native Americans rolled over. They know they cannot take on the liberal establishment and bowed down.

The Liberals again. What a bunch of dog licking retards.

Let me get this straight. Christians have no problem telling all other religious or non-religious people that they are wrong, that Christianity is the only true religion and everybody else is going to fry for all eternity in hell, but dare to question their claims of superiority and it is considered Christian bashing or ripping into them. I see. Carry on.

I guess I should have said, those who don't condemn others are exempt, but Christians are of a such diverse group, with thousands of different views, it is hard to be specific. I had hoped from my many posts, that I am talking about born againers in particular, but I guess I should qualify that every time I post.

So because some Christians do that you feel you have the justification to rip into all Christians and mock their beliefs on one hand and say you respect all religions on the other?

You're such a hypocrite Cliffy.

No way... you clearly enjoy it... why stop now? Keep being who you are.

At the risk of being labeled "Captain Obvious", Cliffy this is a "Christian Discussion" forum. The discussions are going to involve the biblical message and ministry of Christ.

Motar, have you tried prayer to persuade Cliffy? If that fails, there are always hexes and curses.

From a "Hexes and Curses" site.

Simply sit in a darkened room and write the offender's name on a piece of paper.Prop it against a black candle , and circle it , chanting:"What goes around comes around"10 times.
Now burn the piece of paper in the flame and snuff out the candle.I would also suggest that you sprinkle the ashes in the persons path for added "oomph".

Well Motar threads do not always proceed exactly the way one always wants.

Is it reasonable to expect Christian content (and hopefully conduct) in a "Christian Discussion" forum, ES? If so, does the presence and participation of those who take offense at Christ not puzzle you?

In here exclusively... no. Sorry but no. Don't expect it.

No I am not puzzled by it at all. Maybe in my younger days it may have had me puzzled but not now. They are who they are and some actually find enjoyment out of it. Great enjoyment. Look at FP... it is all he talks about. I cannot recall him participating in one thread other than his own anti-Christian ones.

Offense at Christ? I don't think anyone is taking any offense at Christ.

"When Jesus had finished these parables, he moved on from there. Coming to his hometown, he began teaching the people in their synagogue, and they were amazed. 'Where did this man get this wisdom and these miraculous powers?' they asked. 'Isn’t this the carpenter’s son? Isn’t his mother’s name Mary, and aren’t his brothers James, Joseph, Simon and Judas? Aren’t all his sisters with us? Where then did this man get all these things?' And they took offense at him." (Matthew 13:53-57a NIV)

"Jesus left there and went to his hometown, accompanied by his disciples. When the Sabbath came, he began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard him were amazed. 'Where did this man get these things?' they asked. 'What’s this wisdom that has been given him? What are these remarkable miracles he is performing? Isn’t this the carpenter? Isn’t this Mary’s son and the brother of James, Joseph, Judas and Simon? Aren’t his sisters here with us?' And they took offense at him." (Mark 6:1-3 NIV)

Matthew's gospel was written for the religious (Jews) and Mark's gospel was written to the political (Romans), SLM.

Does this fall under the umbrella of intolerance towards Christians, ES?

So you believe the people posting in this thread are Jews and Romans? Do you not get the purpose of it? Not that I'm stating whether I agree or disagree with the premise myself, but the the OP has nothing to do with scripture or with Christ himself.

The OP, SLM:

"For you, Motar and cj44. Let's hear why you find it so difficult to follow Jesus' teaching of tolerance."
