Why are many Christians so intolerant of other religions and spiritual paths?

I speak of spiritual birth.
Some believe that spiritual birth comes with conception, others at birth and still others at rebirth (born again). But, it is just belief and belief is not necessarily the truth. Just because someone believes something is true does not make it so (except unto themselves). That to me is the crux of this discussion - the truth is relative to the believer. What other people believe should be of no consequence to the individual, should not be taken as a challenge to their beliefs.

To me, the bible is of no use, is meaningless. That others find meaning does not affect my faith one bit. But I find those who publicly pronounce that their beliefs are the only true beliefs and that all others are false, are being bigoted about other people's beliefs and slandering them. It has no effect on me, but it does some others, and that is what I find offensive. Everybody has a right to believe whatever they want and denouncing another's beliefs goes against what the denouncer claims to believe.

You need a breathing coach for that!

And in difficult births, an ecclesiotomy.
Or a spiritual episiotomy.

Spiritual birth comes after self-realisation: I think, therefore I am.
First Man:
I think...
I think I am.
Therefore I am!
I think...

Establishment:
Of course you are, my bright little star...
I've miles and miles of files
Pretty files of your forefather's fruit
And now to suit our great computer
You're magnetic ink!

First Man:
I'm more than that
I know I am...
At least, I think I must be

Inner Man:
There you go, man
Keep as cool as you can
Face piles of trials with smiles
It riles them to believe
That you perceive
The web they weave...
And keep on thinking free

Unless of course, Jesus is who he said he was.

From what I can acertain from my studies on the subject, I don't believe he ever made that claim. That claim was made by the men who wrote the book and I think they had ulterior motives for doing so.

Beavs - Here I beg to differ. We are sparkless at conception. Rather, at some appointed time the Holy Spirit hand delivers the "spark" and ignites it. That is to say brings to life - Born Again.

I don't mind your sense of humor. I just have trouble differentiating jest from belief.

Well, I'm CJ - perhaps that should give you pause. Maybe I just flipped the letters to be all stealthy. Ahh Ha! Don't think our merciful Savior doesn't seek the lost with all means.

I must recant my silly joke. I wish not to dance so close to blasphemy.

.>" I just have trouble differentiating jest from belief." <

More common ground. Will the similarities never cease. We both believe in the idea of one all mighty power called christ . Whenever a baby is made the mother knows soonest then she counts back to the sparks arrival and that is the infusion of spirit into the host matter, another little room in gods house. There's no conception without the spark. Our merciful savior is never not with us and seeks nothing but our attention to remembering what we are. That is the purpose of life they say. We are it and the sooner we remember the faster we go home to it, god. If you think and study hard and obey the laws and get lucky you go home a new man in a suit of light. Saint Tesla
Our lord does not have to seek those lost in the material world, he sent us here, to finishing school. Nothing is lost to that power. you will remember it is an avowed omnipotent power and loosing pieces of itself is an impossibility, every sparrow is accounted for exactly where they're supposed to be. I'm just expressing an opinion based on some stuff I read written by very old dead spiritualists.
Studying the present human condition I have faith in gods sense of humour.

Yep motives like stone temples bristling with iron spikes and as much money and power as they could fleece from the sheep in their gathered and captive flocks. Those guys who assembled that famous forgery had the same motives as all despots. The biggest crime in history, they forbade thinking and outlawed reason. Those same forgers still rule.

You can always tell when someone has lost an argument when they resort to posting silly pictures.

So you,ve resorted to using a silly picture. What argument?

Paul's great epiphany was that for every Christian he killed, 10 more would convert. It was a losing battle so he decided that the only way to beat them was to take control of the movement. Paul did not have faith, he had ambition. (that was my epiphany for tonight).

Jesus was an observant Jew. A claim of divinity would have been blasphemy.

The Council of Niceae voted on the question ; they voted as directed by Caesar Constantine.

And today, denying his divinity is considered blasphemy. I guess you and I are on the blasphemer black list.

I think Indians and N American aboriginals would find her statement puzzling. I am somewhat scepticle msef. .

They found it more than puzzling... some came out and wanted her to answer for it. She put it on her application to Harvard and Harvard for years counted her as a Native American Faculty Member.

Of course there was absolutely no evidence of her having any Native American ancestry... just family lore.

She used Native Americans and when Native Americans came looking for an explanation she ignored them. And the Native Americans rolled over. They know they cannot take on the liberal establishment and bowed down.

He was no Jew. He was an Israelite, he was pretty pissed off at how Jews butchered the Torah.
