Why are many Christians so intolerant of other religions and spiritual paths?

Why are so many Muslims intolerant of other faiths, wishing to behead "those stinking kuffar pigs?"

Why are so many on the Left intolerant of Christianity?

Nonsense. I don't mind being called a heretic, apostate, or hell-bent. What pisses many Christians off is being considered just like the others. There are over a billion Muslims; if what you said were true, we'd all be ducking shoes.

Reality is not confined solely to the political left. Some on the right believe the Earth is not flat; for instance, Queen Isabella, Newton.

So, in other words, it's okay to tar all Christians with the same brush as being "intolerant" but you musn't do it with the Muslims.

So, when Cliffy says "many Christians," you read that as "all Christians."

Sounds like a guilty conscience to me.

Course, could be just piss-poor reading comprehension skills.

I never said that. In fact, let me declare, those that claim Earth sits on the back of a turtle need to shake their heads. And the cargo cultists; comrades, it ain't gonna happen!

The message was definitely lost a long time ago, idolizing once again and forgetting the message entirely.

Every US president in my lifetime has bombed and strafed civilians and not one of them failed to invoke their Christian heritage and the conviction that God was with them. Thanks to our PMs visit to Israel we now know for certain that he tolerates a murderous state with no reservation.

I think Carter completely turned the other cheek. Outside of his disastrous hostage rescue attempt I can't recall one bombing or strafing.

Why are so many on the Left intolerant of Christianity?

Path of least resistance.

For you, Motar and cj44.

Let's hear why you find it so difficult to follow Jesus' teaching of tolerance.
Cliffy, I am buried in all manner of duties at the moment, but shall respond as soon as I am able.

Tsk, tsk!
Matthew 22
4 Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage.

5 But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise: (KJV)

Firsty off, I never said all Christians, and secondly, I started this thread at the request of two Christians who I think were fed up with me always being off topic in the baptism thread.Thirdly, questioning belief is not bashing or intolerance.

On topic: I do not have a bible nor the patience to search for passages that show Jesus taught tolerance. I suggest reading a red letter bible, the one that has everything that Jesus said in red ink, and forget all the nonsense that Paul wrote. You will find a completely different message from what literalists are peddling.

Does anyone have a Christian teaching of tolerance to share?

Romans 14:1-4 As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions. One person believes he may eat anything, while the weak person eats only vegetables. Let not the one who eats despise the one who abstains, and let not the one who abstains pass judgment on the one who eats, for God has welcomed him. Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? It is before his own master that he stands or falls. And he will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make him stand.

Ephesians 4:2 with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love

1 Peter 3:8-11 Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind. Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, bless, for to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing. For “Whoever desires to love life and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit; let him turn away from evil and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it.
