For a real treat though, nothing beats Bailey's Irish Creme on Frosted Flakes.

Not real practical in the morning, unless it's Sunday.

or the Christmas season or the camping season. Bailey's has a few seasons.

Milk's not good for you. Humans are the only animals that continue to drink milk after they're weaned

as a treat it's nice. It's not meant to replace water. But it has to be better then pop for ya.

The way I heard it was that whole milk is milk that has not been skimmed of any cream. Raw milk is right out of the critter. Homo has been messed with by dairies. And you can also get 2%, 1%, skimmed, etc. in either raw form or homo.
I tried that soy stuff. Once is enough.
Goat milk and cheese and whatever is yummy.
If we went the 1%, 2% pattern, homo milk would be called 3.25%. And you're right IIRC, whole milk hasn't been skimmed at all.

Pasteurization "ruined" milk but it was a necessary evil as the population grew. While it does kill off germs and bad bacteria like e.coli, it also does the same to the vitamins, minerals and good bacteria. Those get added back in after pasteurization.
Unfortunately, it's some of those bad bacteria that let us know when milk starts to spoil. With pasteurization, the milk doesn't start to turn sour so much as it starts to rot. That's because pasteurization also extends the shelf life. However, most people end up drinking milk that's started to rot without even realizing it because it doesn't smell. By the time pasteurized milk starts to smell, it's actually gone beyond sour.

Milk's not good for you.
That's not entirely true. The older you get, the less good for you it becomes. Milk in moderation is good for a developing body. As you progress through adulthood, you should be drinking much less milk, if any. Then again, what the hell good is life if you can't enjoy tasty foods like butter, cream, cheese and cheese curds? Or real ice cream?
Hell, if it wasn't for cheese, half of our household menu would need to be rethought

We became empty-nesters last month and, lo and behold, whole milk, or as we always called it years ago, homo, starts showing up in the fridge. Haven't had homo milk since I was a kid on the farm and got milk direct from the dairy farm next farm over. Yummy.
how old were you when you had children,45?

just listened to an article on CBC,there are many sources to receive calcium boost, dairy products have been over rated?

suffer from acne, dairy can flare it up!

Milk is excellent, it's the accompanying fat that isn't. There is no better source of calcium. Cheese is an excellent food. I use skim milk and the skim milk cheese. Milk is very good for teeth and bones. I've had numerous discussions with my grand daughter (who knows everything) but she's not as smart as Grandpa. :)

They are warning old guys like me to not drink too much milk because of a possible connection with prostate cancer.

Killjoys.

When are they going to flood the market with bacon flavored milk?

well considering it's pumpkin season, they'll have to flood the market with pumpkin spice flavoured milk first. Then they can do the bacon flavoured one. One must maintain a seasonal order...

'We' usually make a pie for every person at the table so it might be a hit as long as it doesn't stain your teeth or tongue.
Sno-cones for X-mas? (except the yellow kind)

Bacon season usually has a ripe apple in it's mouth if that is a clue then we have a full year before that comes around again. Damn.
Bacon lip gloss?

Better than booze and a lot fewer calories than fruit juice, even, but fruit juice has goodies in it.
Raw milk carries a large variety of fat-soluble vitamins if the milk is from range-fed cattle. Some people who are lactose-intolerant can drink raw milk without problems. It also helps regulate immune system function. And I think its flavour beats the crap out of processed milk from grain-fed cattle.
But it not good for people.

No. I don't fancy homo milk. I prefer cows' milk.

If you buy American milk, you get a hormone soup as they force their cows to produce more milk by pumping them up with drugs. You may not like homo milk but you might grow a pair of tits just the same.

That was uncalled for, T-bones.

Anyways, we get raw milk from a neighbour here. Yummy stuff. I find that storebought crap has less flavour and the flavour it does have tastes a bit off.

I agree that gov't sort of ruins good stuff. The commercial producers seem to de-nourish foods and then cram stuff back in. A lot of the time, it's the same nutrients that they took out in the first place. Then the gov't subsidizes these producers and the unnatural foods end up being cheaper than the unfûcked-with foods. It's a special brand of idiocy, as far as I am concerned.

I wish I could get some raw milk. The Government here in Ontario is rabid about preventing any 'natural' food from being available.
I was raised on raw cow's milk as a child and the homemade butter, the whipped cream, cream for coffee and desserts was out of this world for flavour.
The milk we buy is tasteless and I suspect lacks nutrition. Can't even buy homogonized ,milk here.

Some people get sick from something they've ingested and they feel that they've won the lottery and sue the manufacturer/producer.

It's bad enough how many people think they've gotten the flu but have in fact poisoned themselves from poor food handling practices...
