Reverend Blair said:Read the book, not the reviews, Jay. I don't know Alan Cairns or his motivation for writing the review. I do know a lot of people who have been dealing with native issues since the 1950's and I do know that Flanagan is not one of those people. When I read his book, the racism was evident. I'm not the only one that thinks so, native leaders and those who work with them have said the same thing.
Reverend Blair said:Flanagan's message is that natives are lazy and stupid, Colpy. Of course you wouldn't know that because you haven't read the book. You also seem unable to understand that international treaties cannot just be walked away from.
You know nothing about the situation or the man that you are defending. You are defending him simply because you share a culture of greed with him.
Where did I say that there was a racist Harper quote? I didn't. I said that the Conservative party was racist after referring to Flanagan. Nice try though. Are you sure you have degree in poli-sci?
.You remind me of an incident I saw during Question Period on CPAC a few years ago. Jane Stewart (of HRDC fame) was the Liberal minister answering a question from the Reform Indian Affairs critic on corruption on a particular native reserve. Her reply to the question was, of course, to rise in the house, point a finger at the Reform member, and cry "racist" as she had been instructed to do at every opportunity by her Great Leader. The Reform critic rose to answer "I'm sure" he said, "that my being a racist will come as quite a surprize to my full-blood Cree wife and my three status Indian children."
You people have been playing this particular card (a Joker) for far too long.
So, I say it again. Let's see some direct quotes. I don't care, give us quotes from Flanagan. Just ONE, that proves he is a racist. Or never use the term to slander the Conservative Party again
linkWomen were verbally attacked with abusive and racist comments by male members of Stephen Harper's Conservative Party on Friday, June 25, as they protested outside the meeting area, waiting to see Stephen Harper. Reporters and more than 25 protesters had gathered to greet Mr. Harper at the door where he was expected to enter, hoping to ask him a few questions.

Dr. Kobayashi has been a National Director of the National Association of Japanese Canadians, a member of the team that negotiated Japanese Canadian redress, and a member of the Advisory Committee of the Japanese Canadian National Museum and Archives.
You've got to remember that west of Winnipeg, the ridings the Liberals hold are dominated by people who are recent Asian immigrants, who are recent immigrants from Eastern Canada, people who live in ghettoes and who are not integrated into western Canadian society.

THE REFORM PARTY OF CANADA
The Reform Party of Canada believes that indigenous nations should be treated as municipalities within Canada, and that all indigenous peoples should be subject to colonial provincial and federal laws. Their policy, stated in "Reform's Fresh Start for Aboriginal Peoples: 1996 Blue Sheet" is: " The Reform Party maintains that any form of Indian self-government will be a delegated form of government and all lands within the borders of Canada will remain part of Canada. The laws of Canada (and the Provinces and Territories) including the Canadian Constitution and the Charter of Rights and Freedoms will apply to Indian governments. Any laws enacted by Indian governments must conform to the laws of Canada."
"Human rights commissions, as they are evolving, are an attack on our fundamental freedoms and the basic existence of a democratic society…It is in fact totalitarianism. I find this is very scary stuff."
“I’m not doing witch-hunts on people’s pasts… If someone does something wrong, there will be action taken. But if somebody doesn’t do anything wrong, we’re not going to take any action… I don’t make volunteer field decisions… but Betty Granger is a riding president, a member in good standing. She’s somebody that other members I’ve talked to think very highly of, and quite frankly, she was the victim of an unfair slur story in the last election campaign.”
"Well, I’ve always believed that we have to be a lot tougher with undocumented refugee claimants.
Universality has been severely reduced: it is virtually dead as a concept in most areas of public policy... These achievements are due in part to the Reform Party.
I know this is a dangerous subject. My advisors say don't talk about it, but the fact is sometimes provinces have allowed in the past few years, they've brought in private services covered by public health insurance...
We also support the exploration of alternative ways to deliver health care. Moving toward alternatives, including those provided by the private sector, is a natural development of our health care system.
