NDP as the last election the top 3 were all within a few hundred votes and Gurment Grewal just squeaked in, I think he will be toast this time and it will be between NDP and Libs.

My riding did go NDP again in last years by-election (provincially) and stayed that way in last May's provincial election, so I think they have a good chance this time to take riding. Plus it will be the same main 3 running again in this riding.

I dunno yet, so I didn't pick one in the poll. Depends very much on who the candidates are. The only thing I'm sure of is it won't be Conservative. I've never voted for the right in my life, and I've always voted at every opportunity, even civic elections. A man who can say that when well into his fifties seems unlikely to fall from grace.

I think the NDP if they run the same candidate as last time in the next riding over could take the seat from Nina Grewal as well.

In all honesty I can see the NDP picking up 2-3 maybe 4 seats from cons next time and even the liberals may pick up one or two as a lot of ridings were 3 way battles and BC seems to have more support now for NDP on both levels latley. They did get 41% of vote last election provincially so they are on the up swing. All these labour problems with Telass, Teachers and other unions could help them as well especially the island and areas of the GVRD.

I forgot to add Chuck Cadmans old riding I believe will be a squeaker for NDP but a real battle between them and Libs. But the wild card is rumours have it that Chuck's daughter may run so you never know what that outcome may be if she does.

I choose the conservative party of Canada.....simply because there are only really 2 options if you want to dump the liberals.....NDP or Conservative. The only reason I would not vote NDP is because it it obvious that they would likely never lower taxes and probably increase them. I don't find more government spending particularly appealing....Canadians deserve a tax break....

My first time voting! :D and it shall go to the liberals, always liked the liberals and it seems that if another election is called the liberals will get a minority and they mite unite with the NDP, who has a really good platform but no hope of winning. Stephen Harper freaks me out 8O and he keeps switching stances all the time

i would really find it interesting to see a concervative minority. they have no natural allies they are probably closest to the liberal's then anybody else and if the liberals would not vote with them as leader of he oppostion(they would be and you know it). i don't think this is likly and i don't want it i want a liberal majority(but very slim).

Check your riding stats Nitzomoe. I don't know where you live and I don't follow the Toronto ridings closely, but I believe that there were a couple that were battles between the NDP and the Conservatives, with the Liberals running a distant third.

If you are in such a riding and want to keep Harper out, then it's best to vote strategically for the NDP. If you aren't in such a riding, then vote for whoever you like.

Well, there ya are. It's good that you know your candidate, Nitzomoe...a lot of people don't.

It's still a valuable point to remember...the Conservatives picked up seats because the Liberals split the NDP vote last time. If you are voting strategically to keep somebody out, check your local stats before you head to the polls.

swirling in the abyss of nowhere la
I think that the NDP would be the best place for my vote, even if they don't lower taxes, neither will anyone else.

election promises...pffft, they all break them anyway, The NDP here have at least acted with integrity around here for the most part...and one of the old leaders was my mother's divorce lawyers...a real barracuda who would go after what she wanted for her client....nice woman too

If an election is called anytime soon the Liberals will win but they will still have a minority. The NDP will gain a few in Atlantic Canada, one or two extra in Ontario and Manitoba. In Sask they will pick up one maybe two and they will make gains in BC so will the Liberals. The Conservatives will begin the long road down under Harper and the sooner the better.
My vote will go to the NDP.
The Liberals need to get the message and the conservatives need to be all but wiped out.

i might vote concervative if they never had stevan harper as a leader. he is a bit scary to me because he could do anything if he has the option. the thing is he is an extremist(well by canadian standards he really i think has the same opions as bush) but if he came to power he would not be able to do everything he wants . but if he did do even a bit of the things he wanted to do it could become a problem
-private health care
-get rid of daycares
-lower taxes to extreme levels
-cut healthcare
-etc

of course as i said before these are his views not his party that is why the platform is different. i want another person to become leader. does anyone know the conditions or the time that a ledership convention will be held other then if he resigns.

The trouble with this election is that it sounds like whoever wins will be in the same minority mess we are in now and nothing will be done & we'll just be waiting for one of the other parties to bring that one down too. All I'm looking forward to is the sight of politicians tramping thru the ice and snow to try to get my vote. I hope some will fall and break their necks

You have fallen victim to the Liberal plot to demonize every leader of the opposition as an "extremist".

Yes, Harper would allow the provinces to use private delivery of health care. The Supreme Court has just defended that view, so this hardly makes Harper extreme. Private care clinics are popular, especially in Quebec, where Paul Martin uses one. Private health care does not mean you pay, it just is a more efficient way to deliver health care.

The Conservatives would rather give poor parents money to use as they please for day care, instead of forcing the public to pay for rich folks kids. This hardly is "shutting down day care"

Have you seen the Liberals "economic update"? Tax relief is necessary, and the Liberals are trying to steal Conservative fire on the issue.

Stephen Harper would certainly NOT "cut healthcare" funding. That is not part of the platform, never has been, and it won't happen. It would be political suicide.

I hope I have eased some of your fears.

Feel free, and safe, in voting Conservative.
