She's been burning her candle in a lot of places. I hope she's found what she was looking for. Rest in Peace.
Very sad, we can judge others, but it's meaningless if we don't know the "headwinds they've been bucking".

If you are going to choose a life of hard drugs and liquor this will be the result 99% of the time. Her name will now be added to the long list of those who took on that lifestyle and failed to make it.

It is just too tragic. The talent that she had was superior and on a stratosphere of a select few earthlings.

I gotta admit. I am stunned. What a loss. But so many superior talents die young. (and yes, 48 is young )

(whatever her "lifestyle" was , it was her personal choice and in the final analysis , what truly matters is the talent and the songs she leaves behind. It is a lifestyle of many performers. Elvis and other big names lived it and died young too. But as he did.....she leaves the sounds of her voice to live , enjoy and remember. me thinks , we can get far too jaded about these artists......as we don't have a clue what their true "lifestyle" involves , the pressures , the media scrutiny and when they die, the media autopsies . Not many can handle this effectively without some "cost" to themselves.

Alas, her lifestyle of drugs and alcohol(I'm not sure if she still was living hard, or if it just caught up with her years later) was more than likely the cause of her death. It also didn't help that she had such a douchebag of a husband. Rest in peace.
Seems most focus on her drug and alcohol "lifestyle" at the time of her death. why is that?? What happened to remembering the wonderful voice, the talent , the professional performances she gave , the recognition she gained as an artist???
Seems that she did not have the glorious lifestyle that so called big money and big success brings .......and not sure how many could cope living under the microscope day after day and be subject to tabloid gossip each time they sneeze.
IF that is all one can remember about her......then perhaps her death is nothing but a small ripple on a lake with no loss to anyone.

Ah, that's too bad, I'm sorry to hear that. At her best as a performer she was as good as anybody's ever been, a powerful and evocative voice, and a rare beauty too.
Most people tend to focus on that, because it was more than likely the cause of her death. If she had passed due to old age, then there would be more focus on her talent and career. While it is sad, it is how it is with celebrities. Look at Amy Winehouse, for example. All the newspapers and other outlets focused on her problems with alcohol and drugs due to it being the ultimate cause of her death(and especially since she died so young).

well, so far NO cause of death has been released so all folks are doing is making assumptions. Of course the media does that. It was different with Elvis.......it seemed that most sort of suspected......but the focus was on the loss of the man, the talent , the survivors , the family...........and the crap sifted out later.
Yes, it was ugly about Amy , and it was wrong to literally black ball her in death by focussing on her problems. instead of her talent.The one person who handled it very tactfully and gracefully was Tony Bennett. ( she did a duo with him).

This is the sort of news that sells. If it wasn't, then you wouldn't hear about these "sensationalism" stories. It's a sad fact, but I doubt it will change anytime soon.

Whitney chose a road to destruction because she could never find the road to happiness. She
struggled to make the big time and she did, she ended up leaning on a jerk for a husband and
she never really recovered from the breakup. Even on the summit of success personal life failure
leaves you just short of the full view of life and such was the case for her. This is way past the
she did drugs thing, it is the waste of a human life filled with promise and hope in the eyes of those
still searching. Today the journey ended in with the worst possible outcome, but the world will
appreciate the musical magic she left behind.
The coming and going of the icons that mark the mile posters of a generation. She will be missed

yes, a rare beauty, but I saw a picture of her a few years back, looked about 60, and I'll bet when she
died she looked 90.
I hope her children have been in good hands for a long time, what a pitiful way to be a mother, and
what a memory for her children, moving on with their lives.
I feel nothing at this moment but anger toward her,and sadness for her children, what a pitiful mess she was.
When people have such a chance at the american dream, it sometimes becomes a nightmare, and no one
to blame but herself.
Some make it big and get stuck in the fast lane. Living at the Beverly Hills Hotel? If you have the cash to do that then you have the cash to buy drugs, especially being an addict. No worry about cops watching your house, I'm sure the hotel makes star watching a little difficult. I'm sure there are lots of secret entrances for runners. A phone call to the front desk and few bucks can arrange anything. Play Russian Roulette with hard drugs for years, one day you pay the piper.
Some people think "making it big" is the answer. There have been far too many rich and famous people crumble to believe that being rich and famous cures all ills. She was an immense talent. The drugs destroyed that. But the drugs ultimately were not the problem. They were nothing more than a symptom.
