'People Will Insist That They are Not Racist': Robin DiAngelo on 'White Fragility' and the Way Forward

DiAngelo, a San Francisco-born social justice educator, is the author of "White Fragility: Why It’s So Hard for White People to Talk About Racism". Her exploration of white people's defensiveness in the face of their own biases was originally published back in 2018, but after ongoing protests against the killing of George Floyd and other Black people at the hands of police, the book was included in many recent reading lists on race. It's now #1 on The New York Times nonfiction best sellers list.

To DiAngelo, white people's unwillingness to see themselves as complicit in a racist system — and their ensuing "fragility" on the subject — is actively hampering the anti-racism movement. As she says, true progress can come only when they acknowledge their own biases. "That idea that 'I'm not racist,'" she said, "is not changing racism. We have to come from a fundamentally different paradigm."

Seriously? In what world does this person live in whereby she feels she has the right to call "whites" "fragile" about talking about racism when for the most part, it's mostly white people who insist that racism is systemic? Apparently, other "races" can't speak for themselves & whites can only say that they're racist, even if it's not true because they are simply "unaware" that they're racist. The generalization is not only stupid but disingenuous. It seems that the only racists are whites which is, of course, totally nonsense.

Twitter joins a growing list of companies distancing themselves from Trump following the deadly attack at the Capitol last week by a mob of the president's supporters, many of whom believe Trump's false assertion that the election was stolen from him.

From a financial perspective, investors may believe banning Trump could hurt Twitter because some former followers of his feed may decide to leave the platform due to their belief that the company is silencing conservative voices. There's also the fact that even before Trump's ban, advertisers may have decided they want to avoid sponsoring content on a platform that has become polarizing.

Twitter shares fell as much as nearly 10% early Monday before paring some losses and trading down 6% by midday.

Plus, Twitter and other social media companies may also come under more pressure from the Biden administration and Democrats who will soon control the House and Senate. They may seek to crack down further on the more incendiary content on the platform, not to mention the outright lies tweeted by politicians and other verified account holders.

Yup It's an empty CON S PIRACY all right!!!
