God was directing the French and British long before we became a nation, we had good teachers. You intimate/claim how innocent you are that is what I find such a crock. I would also straighten out how Canada treats their native population before throwing stones.

Canada has been condemned by the world court for its human rights violations concerning its treatment of our aboriginal peoples. Of that there is no doubt. I have been fighting for the rights of the Sinixt people for 23 years. But that is not the point of this discussion. I was addressing spirit1st and his/her particular comment concerning the US and god. He/she did not mention Canada and so to me it was irrelevant to bring it into the conversation. But if it makes you feel good about yourself to point out that Canada is not innocent, then knock yourself out.

I'm not going to address the crazy one at all.

As for my views on the US? It was an interesting idea at the time. Unfortunate that they've strayed from the constitution which they seem to worship certain aspects of. There are good people/places and bad people/places there, as with any country. I don't see the US as particularly special compared to other free countries. Well, aside from their power. I'm very critical of their governments and politicians but not really the people. I kind of feel sorry for all they've had to put up with.

The US is the "greatest" WAR LOVING , over aggressive, nation that has no problem slaughtering thousands in nations that posed no threat to it. It is the "greatest" at LYING about invading and occupying other lands purely in selfish interest ......be it for global control, power or just plain greed.

The US has lost its ethical compass as it has no qualms about targeted assassinations ( illegal) , lynchings, and ignoring international law when it suits its purpose.

The US is beyond arrogant. It is narcissistic to the most pathological degree with no compassion to those they occupy by choice.

The quality of life is better in many nations than it is in the US. The US is built on extremes. The very rich , the very poor , the highly educated and the uneducated The health care is not equal for all...... as it should be. Health is the basic necessity of any nation. But in the US only the rich can afford it . Those that can't have to settle for substandard care. IF any at all

The US has no clue as to how to manage its budget and is in so much debt.......it is owned by its lenders. Making the US population look foolish for bragging about anything now.

The US has nothing to export except WAR, killing, torture and other atrocities that are part of the WAR complex er military complex which determines much of what the US is.

Any progress or scientific discovery is at a standstill.........as there are no funds for anything except WARS and invasions.

The above are not "opinions".........they are FACTS.~~ unpleasant ,they might be. But the only place on the planet that has a severe case of delusional denial about its own set of circumstances. The brainwashing has been quite successful......in creating the US MYTH that is a far cry from the REALITY. This is why they are so gung ho about "the American dream.". As any dream is not based on reality.

Well, I can tell you in years past I've visited the U.S. and I can think of several- most important is the people, always friendly and helpful to us. They are surrounded by an aura of optimism. Another thing is the natural beauty found in places like Crater Lake, the Grand Canyon and Death Valley. There, I've already covered a lot. :smile:

Sadly , the US is not really known for its natural beauty like Canada or even South Africa is. To repeat....it is more known for its multi wars , invasions,occupations , political maniplations, and LIES.

One of the worst things that can happen to a nation is to lose credibilty. That is what has happened in the US in the past decade. OK......it was not all that great before......but in the past decade it has spiralled downward at a rapid rate.

I too have travelled to the US extensively. Most of my relatives still live there. The so called "american' dream is gradually turning into a nightmare. Homes are not affordable. Folks are going bankrupt at a scary rate.

Yes, most of the population is nice. But if anyone has travelled much...... people of all nations are Nice, They all treat their tourists well as tourists are income. THe sad thing is that the US has bragged so much about how great it is for so long that it has lost sight of what is real and the boasting became more than tiresome long ago.

I think that stereotype of the bragging patriotic American is a bit dated. You can hardly complain about Americans stereotyping Canadians, Americans knowing so little about the rest of the world, etc. - you've shot yourself in the foot with that one, I'm afraid. And surely, Ocean Breeze, there's nothing factual about anyone American loving war. Your rant just bypassed all those families who have sons and daughters fighting thousands of miles away.
