I know where you are going with that, but based on the way 'ownership' in government works, I would prefer to have no part of it.
I have no problem with unions that have a valid competition. I DO have problem with unions where the competition, in other words, the VICTIM is the public.
So, I have no problem with union drivers at UPS and FEDEX compete.
In fact, I would encourage them to merge. Then they could reflect the mood of the victimized public, which was trained and accustomed to be victimized by Canada Post: FEDUPS.

Do you think a private company would sell you electricity for 7.533 cents per KWh like publicly owned Manitoba Hydro? Would you rather pay 15 cent per KWh like those out east? How much does MB Hydro buck back into the economy to lower you taxes?
They sell you the cheapest power in Nor Am , they are a publicly owned and operated by union employees.

Since I am a CANADIAN first, I really don't care which province I live in. I made myself into a success story (with the help of my CANADIAN wife) not to care where I live and worry about the cost of Hydro. I think I mentioned this before, but in case you missed it, we moved to Manitoba, because our daughter found a job as a nurse and then the love of her life in Manitoba, and when she informed us that our first grandchild is on the way we realized that there was nothing to keep us in Ontario, so we moved here. Cost of Hydro or cost of car insurance or cost or quality of health care had NOTHING to do with our move here.
Having said that, I am happy to live here, just as I was happy to live in Ontario. Perhaps because I am not and never was a union-bound and union-slaved discontent.

Who cares if UPS is union, I am not agruing if Unions are good or bad, I'm saying that Canada Post is slowly becoming an obsolete service as advances in technology continue and should not be government owned.

I think the back-to-work legislation is ridiculous and vicious.........as it forces a wage on the workers that is LESS than the last wage offered by the company.

No B U L L S H I T, petros. When I was in the refugee camp in Austria, waiting for immigration to the United States, I and many other of my fellow refugees were approached (through an interpreter) by Canadian Immigration official to come to Canada. The choice was Canada or a few years in a camp.
Something tells me YOU would have chosen the latter.
I did choose Canada, and I have no regrets, proud to be Canadian, except when I run into pseudo-patriots who have no idea what they are talking about or when they tell me to go back where I came from. Most of the time not so politely.

I have a system where at the beginning of the month, I pay my bills, I pay into a long term savings plan, and I pay a fixed amount into my disposable cashflow bank account.......then I put the rest into a short term savings account for purchases like TV sets, etc.
Over the past year, I've seen the short term savings account dry up by more than $10 per day.

I do the exact same thing - all unaddressed junk mail goes right back into the mail slot. Saves me carrying it around.

It's effected my work because we get mail at work. Lots of it. Every day. Though it doesn't effect my department directly, it eventually gets around to us: "oh, we can't do that because such-and-such department hasn't been getting mail."
A friend of mine has been seriously effected by it. Her workplace has had to scale back hours because there isn't enough work without mailing coming in.
I agree with Comrade Colpy. The law is nothing but a tool of the capitalist class to oppress the workers. As Jack White of the International Workers of the World put it: "to hell with your courts; I know what justice is."

The strike? No, the strike was fine because it was a rotating strike.
Once the corporation locked out their employees, that's when business began to take a nose dive - because we either pay for courier, or our mail is at a stand still.
Everything will be alright soon though, as the government is justly rewarding the corporation with back-to-work legislation that punishes those evil, greedy workers.
It all makes complete sense..
