Don't want to piss on your parade there, Dex, but I'm not sure how many and to what degree the qualities you mention are relevant to Gov't. Isn't the role of Gov't confined to a very few main things..................enacting and enforcing legislation, setting standards and enforcing them (weights and measures etc.) , role of watchdog and care of marginalized people, steward of the land and that's about it!
They are totally relevant. One of the problems with our system is people seem willing to forget about honor and respect and humility and other such traits or like yourself think they are irrelevant. Maybe if we were more concerned with the make-up of the man than the party he belongs to our govt would be better.

You are dealing with politicians, not Pope Francis!

Shouldn't politicians be held to high standards? The quality of the person defines the quality of the MP, and I want the best we can get. I take my rights and responsibilities as a voter very seriously. Evidently you don't; your choice of course, but I think you're missing something.

Pretty rough when you hold someone to a high standard and they let you down. Happens a lot in politics. After awhile you lose faith in the pricks.

Like hubby says, "Hope for the best, but expect the worst."
I do not like people of low quality representing me. That is why I would prefer to vote in referendums rather than be "represented". But if there is a candidate on a ballot that seems halfways decent I will vote for them.

There's a Jays game on in downtown Trona, tonight. Somebody on the radio was fretting that it was going to swing the results of the election. So, I was wondering:

Are baseball fans Left Handers? ... Right Handers? ... Switch Hitters?
